If there was one thing I disliked about this experience it was our tour company taking us here after a big lunch :) why you ask? well because this was such an extremely relaxing experience afterwards that a lot of us fell asleep during the performance, especially since it was mid day and a lot of us were fighting a 12h to 15h jet lag :) So, my recommendation would be to make sure to go here when you are completely awake and attentive, as the music is actually pretty beautiful and the entire craft pretty cool - they play kiotto (I actually hear it accidentally about 30 years ago and hearing the sound of it here brought some memories immediately!) and another instrument - the 2 ladies performed a few songs, sang some songs too - really cool, even if you aren't into this type of art/entertainment If you can't see it from the front row there is a big TV that you can easily see the performance on as well TIP: there is a single person restroom right behind small gift shop so if you travel in a big group plan accordingly :)

A magical experience! This intimate concert was a highlight. Between listening to the music, and the history of the instruments, playing the Koto ourselves, and then talking with the teacher and master Koto player, this was an experience we will never forget.

My family thoroughly enjoyed this concert. The music was beautiful and the musician was accomplished. At the end of the concert, my kids were encouraged and allowed to try the instruments. Both ladies were kind and friendly and made for a very pleasant afternoon.

This is a beautiful performance of the koto and kokyu in the intimacy of the Kiotto theatre. I had dared and hoped to find this performance of traditional Japanese music..thank you so much to Noriko at Heartland Japan for the introduction….virtuoso playing…
