Expo98 er hvor verdensmessen i 1998 fandt sted, nu kaldet "Parque das Nações", det er det seneste distrikt / kvarter i byen Lissabon, hvor du kan beundre nogle af de smukkeste vidunder i moderne arkitektur.
Det ældste kvarter af Lissabon stammer fra tiden for maurernes erobring af byen. Vi vil udforske de smalle brostensbelagte gyder og gader, hvor facaderne på traditionelle huse er dækket med smukke fliser, en arabisk arv på den iberiske halvø. Lissabon-katedralen (bygget i 1448) og St. Anthony Church også i dette område.
"Baixa Pombalina" med sin bymæssige og geometriske arkitektoniske plan blev den model brugt i opførelsen af andre nye byer, især i den nye verden. Her besøger vi de berømte firkanter "Praça do Comércio" og "Rossio", Rua Augusta ( den vigtigste gågade i Portugal med dens berømte Triumfbue.
Parque Eduardo Sétimo: På vej til “Parque Eduardo VII kører vi gennem” Avenida da Liberdade ”, Lissabons Champs d’Élysées, en af de smukkeste veje i verden. Udover den unikke grønne vegetation er den også berømt for sine nationale og internationale mærkevarebutikker, et paradis for glamourøse shoppingstræer. Vi kommer forbi det mest imponerende monument i Lissabon, en hyldest til en af Portugals største nationale helte, Marquis de Pombal. Når vi ankommer til toppen af ”Parque Eduardo VII”, kan vi beundre den vidunderlige udsigt over byen og Tagus-floden. Ponte 25 de Abril e Monumento do Cristo Rei.
Belem er distriktet / kvarteret i Lissabon, der er dedikeret til de store portugisiske opdagelsesrejsende i det 15. og 16. århundrede. Portugal var det første globaliserede land i verden med ankomst af sine opdagelsesrejsende til alle kontinenter. Det portugisiske imperium blev et af de største i menneskehedens historie. De majestætiske monumenter, som vi finder her, afspejler den gyldne æra i Portugals historie: “
Mosteiro dos Jeronimos ”, Belem-tårnet og Opdagelsesmonumentet med statuer af de store portugisiske sejlere og opdagelsesrejsende, Pedro Alvares Cabral, Vasco da Gama blandt andre. Endelig er der et must-besøg hos den berømte “Pasteis de Belem”, et af Portugals mest typiske kager / slik.
Det boheme kvarter Chiado blev ødelagt af en frygtelig brand i 1988 og var genstand for et omhyggeligt genopbygningsprojekt ledet af den portugisiske arkitekt Álvaro de Sisa Vieira. Det er uden tvivl det travleste kvarter i Lissabon. Det er her gaderne "Rua do Carmo" og "Rua Garrett", hvor vi kan finde Café "A Brasileira" (med en statue af digteren og forfatteren Fernando Pessoa, en fast klient på denne café), bliver levende hver dag!

It was a great way to see the city. Our guide Jose was a scholar of history. He took us to the top landmarks during our 7 hour tour. Jose made the history come alive with stories he shared. He introduced us to the delicious pasteis de Belem custard tarts when we stopped for coffee! We have many photos and a very memorable time. We were so fortunate to spend our excursion day with him.
Jose is a great asset to our company. He's part of the best driver-guiding team in the country and Premiere Tours is so proud of all of them.
Trip across the April 25th Bridge and view of the City from the southern shore, the church of Jerónimos, the pastels of Belém, the Maritime Museum were all memorable. Our guide was very informative and interesting. His sharing of scholarly knowledge acquired through his research for his doctoral thesis was fascinating and also memorable.

This comprehensive tour of Lisbon shows you all the city's main highlights. My driver-guide, Jorge, was highly welcoming and demonstrated his extensive historical and cultural knowledge with a lightness of touch. The pace of the tour was perfect, combining walking and free time so that I could explore places I wanted to visit in more detail. The tour's highlight was spending time with Jorge exploring the Jeronimos Monastery and adjacent Santa Maria Church. I would have missed so much in both places if I had gone alone. This is the perfect one day tour of Lisbon.

This tour was far from being Premiere!! Showed up in a 1990s Mercedes and the aircon was barely working when we got going. As the day heated up, the aircon stopped all together. Had to drive around with the windows down. Too hot for that. Asked the driver to abandon the tour after four hours of stinking heat. Rang the office and the only solution offered was to get another car and start again. Way too hot for that now. Management flipped the blame to the customer. That I should have rung him and reported it. Thought that was the drivers job as the coolant light came on in the first hour. And he did report it. Ruined one of our last days in Lisbon! Do not book with these guys. All about keeping the cash!!
Every so often, unfortunately, we come across some people that will do and say anything to get a free ride. People are not as dumb as you think they are Mr. DougP and they can judge for the overwhelming amount of 5 stars rating that Premiere Tours proudly has gotten since it started in this business 29 years ago. Your lies do not count. I hope you will develop a conscience some day.
I just wanted to say that we had two wonderful, insightful and educational tours with Premiere. We had a tour in Porto and the guide was very educated, spoke wonderful English and took us to everything we needed to see in Porto. It was superb. Our second tour was in Lisbon with Jorge. He was very educated on everything about Portugal. No stone was left unturned. He was answered all of our questions and brought us to all of the important places. He was amazing and made our day in Lisbon one not to soon forget. I can't say enough wonderful things about Premiere and I would highly recommend them and use them again when I return to Portgual.
