Rigsdagen blev bygget i 1894 til det første tyske parlament. Efter Første Verdenskrig blev det hjemsted for Weimarrepublikkens parlament. Så, i 1933, kort efter Hitlers magtovertagelse, ødelagde en brand meget af indersiden, og bygningen blev lukket. Hitler havde ikke brug for et parlament. Det var først ved genforeningen, at bygningen blev restaureret, og det nye tyske parlament var klar til at flytte ind.
Brandenburger Tor kan meget vel være Berlins, nej, Tysklands mest berømte vartegn.
Unter den Linden begynder ved Hohenzollern Palace og slutter ved Brandenburger Tor. Nogle af Berlins ældste bygninger som Operaen og Kronprinzenpalais ligger her.
Besøg Sony Center med dens fantastiske arkitektur og se Tysklands ældste trafiklys. Se resterne af Berlinmuren og arkitektur af Renzo Piano, Hans Kollhoff og Helmut Jahn.
På stedet for det tidligere SS- og Gestapo-hovedkvarter er bygningernes fundament blevet udgravet, og et dokumentationscenter er blevet tilføjet. Du vil også se resterne af Berlinmuren.
Dette var absolut den mest berømte af Berlinmurens checkpoints. Denne var forbeholdt militært personel og udenlandske, for det meste amerikanske besøgende, der ønskede at komme ind i den østlige del af byen under den kolde krig.
Berlins smukkeste plads med den tyske kuppel på den ene side og den franske kuppel på den anden. I centrum: Schinkels Konzerthaus.
Berlin Dome er Tysklands største protestantiske kirke modelleret efter St. Peters. Hohenzollern plejede at tilbede her, og mange af deres familiemedlemmer, blandt dem kong Friedrich Wilhelm I og hans kone, er begravet her.

We could not have had a more positive experience than with our guide, Winfried. He is a wonderful, warm, affable and highly knowledgable man who has lived a wide and varied life and thus has so much to offer. We had such a great time and learned so much about Berlin. As a long time resident, he was able to weave in his first hand accounts that made it all come to life in such a pleasant and personal manner. It also was wonderful to ride on public busses & trains with him, it not only helped us get around rapidly but demonstrated how easily we could later navigate it ourselves.

Thomas was the most captivating, enthusiastic and knowledgeable tour guide we’ve ever had in Europe. Definitely book in advance. At the beginning of your trip you will have a nice overview of the city. Audio guide taking and Dutch is possible. Both entrance and audio guide are free.

I had another company set up two private tours in Berlin. They chose A Friend in Berlin and my guide was Josh. I'm a bit remiss in posting a review. I had the tours in mid-September and then got carried away by the rest of my trip. But I enjoyed the tours so much I wanted to make sure that I gave them a five-star rating. Josh was knowledgeable, interesting and interested in my questions and what I wanted to see. The first tour was a Highlights of Berlin scheduled for the day after my arrival. I really felt that I got an excellent baseline of the city, its history and its culture. The second tour piggybacked on the first with a bit more emphasis on WWII. I would highly recommend A Friend in Berlin.
