Gems skåret ud af klippen Man kan ikke besøge Slovenien uden at besøge Postojna Cave, den største Karst-hul i Slovenien med så meget som 24 km fantastisk galler af tunneler, gallerier og haller. Starter med elektrisk tog tager du inde, ligesom ikke hvor ellers i verden, så fortsæt til en vandretur. Ikke alene England, men Slovenien har også sin egen Robin Hood: Erazem of Predjama Castle var en hovedstreng og oprørsk "røverbaron", der stjal fra de rige til at give de fattige. Floden Pivka har udskåret Postojna Grotte i 2 millioner år. Vandstanden har ændret sig over tid og skabt en smuk "multi-level" underjordisk verden fyldt med stalaktitter, stalagmitter, søjler, gardiner og andre smukke former blev gradvist skabt, da vandet efterlod lag af kalksten bag sig. De første besøgende antages at komme til hulen allerede i det 13. århundrede, men de smukkeste dele af hulen blev opdaget i 1818. Du kommer ind i hulen med tog. Togturen tager omkring 10 minutter, og derefter fortsætter du til fods med en guidet tur. Gå en tur under de nåletynde gennemsigtige rør, der hænger fra loftet i Hall of Tubes. Fra under den russiske bro vil du nå The Concert Hall, hvorfra du kan se den fantastiske hvide Brilliant - en virkelig betagende syn. På trods af mørket lever omkring 100 dyrearter i hulen! Den vigtigste attraktion er naturligvis proteus, som i første omgang blev misforstået med en baby drage.
Før besøget, tage en pause på terrassen af den landlige kro foran den udfordrende, mystiske Predjama Castle bygget i en klippe og nyde sin fantastiske udsigt. Slottet er bygget som en uforgængelig redoubt, placeret i den gapende mund af en hule halvvejs op en 123 m klippe. Slottet har store funktioner - huller i loftet i indgangstårnet til at hælde kogende olie på indtrængere, dybe og tynde dungeons, og et mærkeligt skjulested på toppen kaldet Erazems Nøgle. Efter en dejlig halvdags oplevelse vender vi tilbage til Ljubljana. Drop off vil være på samme sted som afhentning.

this "tour" was not exactly what we thought it was. The word tour indicates that there will be an interaction with the guide. He gave a few instructions, and then we were off. After the train ride, we got off and started walking. It was not a stroll, he was a extremely FAST walker, and did not stop once for any picture taking, which was disappointing. We are glad that we took the tour, but would have liked to take some pictures. Take the Vintner Gourge experience, it is amazing.
Great half day trip to one if the oldest cave near Ljubljana. Shirt ten minutes rides to Predjama castle was great too. Our guide Milan was great and explained lot of history about the town Ljubljana. Only thing is he drove us to both the locations and after that we were on our own. If you stay in Ljubljana I don’t think it’s worth paying someone to drive you to caves and castle. You can easily hired a taxi I guess to visit the place. This is my opinion, everyone has different comfort level when they travel. Highly recommend seeing Borge the places.
An excellently organised and delivered tour. We were met at 08:30 around the corner from our hotel (a hotel pick-up would have been available had we not been staying within a pedestrianised zone) where our courteous guide gave us information on the caves, castle and the history of Slovenia and its people on the way to our destinations. Although on booking there was a warning that the tour may be cancelled if there were insufficient numbers, there were only three of us in our party and no one else joined us so it turned out we had our own private transfer service which was great. Our guide explained that he would be able to do the trip in any order but due to the weather conditions advised to stick to the caves first as there was a chance of rain first thing which would pass by the time we got to the castle. We heeded his advice which definitely paid off as we avoided the rain whilst we went inside the caves and arrived to the castle in glorious sunshine. It was good touch that he was able to offer this flexibility on his own back to give us the best possible experience. Tickets were bought on our behalf by our guide who showed us the way towards the cave entrance. Here we joined several other tour groups and queued for the appropriate language. Whilst there was a considerable number of people for various languages, due to the staggered approach of getting people underground it did not feel crowded. After the train journey in, the tour was given at a good pace and allowed time to take in the caverns with about a 1-1.5 hour walk. The castle was also very impressive. Those expecting a lot of decorative items, furniture and the like should be aware that these are kind of sparse throughout, although there is a decent little armoury where you can have a go and lifting the unwieldy sized longswords. The main attraction comes from how the castle is set into the cave face and how features of the cave became both its strength and weakness. An audio guide is available and I found this to be very informative of its history. After our self-guided tour of the castle we met our guide once more in the car park where we were returned to the pick-up point around 13:50 after a very enjoyable half-day. A highly recommended tour.
The cave is an amazing wonder of nature. I thought this is just similar to the cave in Halong Bay of Vietnam but this is bigger and indeed the mother of all caves!The Prejama castle is also interesting. Don't expect treasures nor a lot of furnitures but what's interesting is the location of the castle and how it was built as part of the cave system. A must-see site in Slovenia
