Den botaniske have, formelt kendt som Sir Seewoosagur Botaniske Have, er en af de mest besøgte attraktioner i Mauritius. Haven er beliggende i nærheden af Port-Louis, i distriktet Pamplemousses. Den botaniske have blev oprindeligt åbnet som en privat have af den franske guvernør i Mauritius for næsten 300 år siden, for senere at blive Mauritius Nationale Botaniske Have. Den botaniske have strækker sig over endeløse hektar jord, og det kan tage dig mere end en uge at dække hele haven. Det er befolket med mere end 650 sorter af planter, blandt andet de berømte baobabs, Palmier Bouteille, de uundgåelige Giant Water Lilies, snesevis af lægeplanter, en stor krydderihave og mange flere. En af hovedattraktionerne i den botaniske have er de 85 forskellige varianter af palmetræer, der er bragt fra forskellige hjørner af verden. Andre oprindelige arter af planter er også udstillet her.
Port Louis, den kosmopolitiske hovedstad Mauritius, blev grundlagt i 1735 af den franske guvernør og pioner Bertrand-François Mahé de La Bourdonnais. Port Louis ligger på den nordvestlige kyst og er øens administrative og forretningsmæssige hovedstad. Byen bugner af aktivitet i løbet af dagen og er fuld af kulturelle og historiske skatte, som ikke bør gå glip af. Ud over det centrale marked, som er et samlingspunkt for dem, der ønsker at føle sig tæt på Mauritius sjæl, er der mange historiske steder, herunder Champ de Mars - den ældste racebane på den sydlige halvkugle.
Ikke tilgængelig om lørdagen efter kl. 12.00, på søndage og på helligdage. Det historiske Citadel Fort ligger omkring 100 meter højt på bakken af Petite Montague, og er blevet en af Mauritius historiske attraktioner. Fortet, som også er kendt som Adelaide Fort (opkaldt efter William II's hustru, da briterne holdt land i Port Louis), byder på en fantastisk udsigt over hele byen Port Louis såvel ved havnen. Fortet blev bygget i begyndelsen af det 19. århundrede af oberst Cunningham som et forsøg på at beskytte den britiske hær mod fjenden. Det er bygget i maurisk stil, komplet med hesteskobuer. Fortet er blevet bygget ved hjælp af store rektangulære blokke. Fortet er nu blevet omdannet til et nationalt monument og er omgivet af Caudan Water Front og det store Indiske Ocean.

We spent our holiday as a family of five at the Beachcomber Cannoniere Mauritius. We booked for this excursion Rajesh Seewoopaul Rajesh.991@hotmail.com Spoke a great English, very informative. Took time for everything, knew the best places to exchange money. The family felt well looked after around. The car was very comfortable and space adequate for us as well. DANKE RAJESH!!!!
Good tour , made great by our guide/driver veet , who was very new to role but took us to extra sites . Poor fella had an accident , which was not his fault , on way back , which meant we didn’t get back until much later than planned . Just hope he gets it all sorted
The Botanical Garden was a super experience, highly recommended to stay 2 hours at least. Unfortunately Fort Adelaide was closed due to a public holiday as well es the Blue Penny Museum. Our Guide, Hansley brought us to a tea museum which was not on the program and was really interesting.

Driver was on time and very friend. Car was clean inside and out. The driver was very knowledgeable about his local area and the country he lives in.

This tour was OK. I would have liked a slower walk-through umbrella sq and Port Louis so I could take pictures. Markets were interesting. Recommend paying the extra to have a tour guide in the botanical gardens. Lunch was ok. 'Pin Location' means 'address' not that the tour guide used it.

Fantastic day sightseeing, our driver and guide, Vinoo, was very knowledgeable and friendly. He went above and beyond to ensure that we got the most out of the day and couldn’t recommend him highly enough! He showed us around the capital, and allowed us time to do some shopping in the local and craft markets. The views from Fort Adelaide were breathtaking across the capital towards the Indian Ocean. The Botanical Gardens were very pretty with the added bonus of giant tortoises. We also had the lunch option which was delicious.
We didn't do this full day tour but we went to the Botanical Gardens at Pamplemousses on our own. Very disappointing I'm afraid. A general down at heel feel to the place. Plants and trees either not labelled or inadequately. The fine colonial house is closed and there are no proper facilities for visitors. Even the tortoises look depressed and kept in poor conditions compared to the La Vanille reserve in the south of the island.

A morning to see a small part of the island . The Botanical gardens were good to see and worth getting a guide otherwise you would miss too much . We then went onto visit the Port Louis - the fort , local market and waterfront . Our guide was informative and friendly .
