Pacaya-vulkanen er en af de mange (aktive) beliggende omkring Antigua, den tidligere hovedstad i Guatemala, og måske den mest tilgængelige. Det sidste store udbrud af Pacaya-vulkanen var i 2010. Indtil 2016 var det faktisk muligt at se lava fra tæt på under vandreturen - forskellige turselskaber tog forskellige ruter. Under solnedgangsture, så snart det blev lidt mørkt, kunne vulkanen ses kaste røg og lava.

Rejsende bliver hentet fra deres hotel og transporteret med minibus til Pacaya Volcano National Park. Stierne er i god stand, men det er stejle, indtil du når Pacaya på en 3,7 kilometer lang bane. Når den stiger, vil den passere gennem skove, landbrugsjord og lava. Du går på snavs og løse askespor, så sørg for at have robuste sko. På toppen kan du nyde en vidunderlig udsigt over fumaroles, som kan kaste aske, klipper eller lava. Har dit kamera klar til at fange udbrud, for at bevare sikkerheden vil du være i sikker afstand og ude af fare. Under denne tur får du også en fantastisk udsigt over omgivelserne.

This was a great hike....not too difficult and too time consuming but still very rewarding. David was a great guide....the vistas and the satisfaction are totally worth it

Get ready to hike. I do not think this is a beginner’s friendly hike, more moderate- advanced. They have gourdes that you can ride up the mountain but they are pretty overpriced so be sure to carry extra cash if you cannot complete the hike. (Mind you I actually work out and it was difficult). Great experience overall, but beware of physicality required.
We greatly appreciate your opinion, although you mention things that ARE NOT UNDER OUR CONTROL, such as the price charged for the horses (as they are not ours). As for the level of difficulty you experienced when hiking up the volcano, even children climb this volcano. We always appreciate your comments, Hector
Be prepared to hike up or take a horse. I decided to hike. Amazing experience and seeing the volcano up and being able to sit on volcano rock and admire the scene down below was a amazing. The small group I was with and or your guide was absolutely amazing. The volcano hike turned strangers friends.

This was a perfect hike for me the altitude got to me and was able to get on a horse and get to the top. Did the hike down it was amazing. It was a great way to celebrate turning 50

I had a great time at Volcan Pacaya. The guide Mynor Peralta was very knowledgeable and our hike up to the top was nice and fun. He even practiced speaking Spanish with me. There were horses available to rent, but I didn’t feel the need for it and just walked up. The view at the top is amazing. Oh, and he volunteered to take some Instagram worthy pictures, total win.

What a wonderful experience it was! Wow! It was so magical to do a horseback riding all the way to the top of the volcano and enjoying breathtaking views of the mountains and volcanoes!! This trip is a must!!
