Very entertaining

Everything was very well planned: my transfer, the entertainment at the ethnovillage. I really enjoyed the horse riding and watching Kazakh. guys performing tricks. The lunch was very yummy. I highly recommend this tour if you want to know more about Kazakh’s traditions.

The horseback riding show was the best

I have my expectations from this tour already based on the past reviews. And I would say that those expectations are very accurate and it made this experience more fun. So I suggest to read the reviews first. Nurlan was our driver to and from the city and the ethno village. It was just around 40-50minute one-way travel. In the village, they have their own tour guides which will discuss everything and present to you what you should do inside. The flow of the tour was kinda messy at first but it went very nice until the end. That was what the other reviews were pointing out and, for me, it's not the fault of this tour organiser. Nurlan was very nice and even saved us a seat at the front for the horseback riding show (which was very good!). The food was good as well. After eating, we just took a couple more photos and went home. We received a complimentary a bottled water, tote bag and Kazakh chocolate as part of this tour package. The car we rode on was also very nice and luxurious.

I joined the Experience...

I joined the Experience the Nomadic Lifestyle at 'The Huns' Ethno-village in this May. It’s a comfortable and informative tour with the caring service of the guide.

Interesting cultural concept, but overcrowded - Not worth it

I wanted to enjoy this experience more than I did, because the concept itself is genuinely interesting: a nomadic-style cultural experience, traditional food, horseback performances, and learning about Kazakh history and lifestyle. There were definitely some good parts. The driver was nice, the ride was smooth, the English-speaking host was helpful, and the horse show was enjoyable. Sitting inside the traditional Kazakh yurt and learning about its history, structure, and cultural meaning was probably one of the better parts of the day. That said, for $150, I expected a much more organized and personal experience. The biggest issue was the lack of structure. When we arrived, there was a large crowd waiting outside the gates, and once the activities started, everything felt like a free-for-all. There were no clear lines, no real crowd control, and no organized flow. Whether it was trying the traditional fried dough, sampling other food, or doing archery, people just crowded around and pushed forward. It felt very first-come, first-served, and as a solo traveler, I often felt lost and unsure of where I was supposed to be or what was happening next. I also expected that, for the price, there would be more of a dedicated tour guide or smaller group experience. Instead, it felt like I was just handed off from the WhatsApp contact to the driver, then dropped into a much larger group once we arrived. The person communicating through WhatsApp was helpful with arranging the driver, but they were not present at the actual experience. The cultural elements were interesting, and I did appreciate that they separated English-speaking and Russian-speaking guests into different groups. That helped. But overall, the experience still felt overcrowded and under-managed. The food was another disappointment. After spending almost half a day there, the amount of food provided felt limited, and the hot food we were served was actually cold. That was frustrating, especially considering the price of the activity. Overall, this was not an awful experience, but it was not worth $150 in my opinion. The idea is great, and some parts were enjoyable, especially the horse show and the yurt presentation, but the lack of organization, overcrowding, cold food, and absence of a more personal guided experience made it feel underwhelming.

Very beautiful day. Horse...

Very beautiful day. Horse show very exciting. The guides of the village were really nice and the whole tour was very interesting. The car that took me there was clean. The driver spoke no english, just russian. As feedback for the organizer: no free water bottle was given.

10 out of 10 service!

Nurlan was our driver & guide, he told us where to stand and anticipate next activity. It was so fun learning all the culture and how yurts were made. Traditional snacks, food and lots of tea was provided. Nurlan helped my mom’s bag when she was struggling with her scarf and took our photos and very much 10 out of 10!

Fun experience!

Great to see the village and learn about the culture; the food, tea, music, horse show and information was all super. Pick up and drop off was great.

We enjoyed the cultural...

We enjoyed the cultural activities, but considering the price, the experience felt lacking and ultimately wasn’t worth it. There are many other options that offer better value and are more enjoyable. The program lasted only 2–3 hours, and there were no tour guides to accompany us inside. The driver simply dropped us off and let us explore on our own, and I was also uncomfortable with him offering his personal services. Overall, I would only recommend this activity if you’ve run out of other things to do in Almaty.

Fun experience but overpriced

This was a fun experience but way overpriced. The best part was the horse show, which was cool and impressive, but the rest was a bit gimmicky. It would be much more worth it at a lower price point.
