Din guide vil også forklare den langsomme opførelse af klosteret, fra dets pre-romanske tider til den franske revolution, og brugen af klosterets forskellige værelser. Efter besøget på klosteret, vil du få lidt fritid til frokost og at udforske lidt mere øen på egen hånd, før du går tilbage til Bayeux.

Vi kører først 1h30 til Mont-Saint-Michel. Mont Saint Michel er det mest besøgte sted i Normandiet og et af de mest besøgte steder i Frankrig. Den første konstruktion på klippen blev bygget i 708. Et par årtier senere blev det et stort pilgrimssted for alle kristne i verden. Takket være det religiøse samfunds arbejde på Mont blev stedet set som en intellektuel reference i Europa, hvor tusindvis af bøger, manuskripter og chartre blev skrevet. I det 19. århundrede var Mont Saint Michels betydning i tilbagegang, og det blev et fængsel efter den franske revolution i 1789. Fra 1793 til 1863 havde stedet det værste ry og fik tilnavnet Havenes Bastille... Bygningen led under den manglende vedligeholdelse i den tid og næsten forsvandt, efter at franskmændene holdt op med at bruge det som fængsel. Heldigvis blev det reddet fra ødelæggelse, og mange arkitekter renoverede det fra da til i dag. Efter besøget kører vi tilbage til Bayeux 1h30.

Our tour to Mont Saint Michel was perfect. Anna picked us up at our hotel in Bayeux, and the day was just right for us. Her driving was excellent, and she made sure to get us to the right place for the shuttle. With some walking issues, we were pleased to be able to do and see a lot without difficulty. It was a beautiful experience.
We went with Yanick from HQ tours and he was wonderful. The tour was very informative and it was nice to have a guide in the city with you and going through the Abbey.
Great tour with our guide Val. He was very knowledgeable about the abbey and how the architecture evolved through the centuries. We arrived early enough before the crowds and made our way to the top with great views. Highly recommend!

Had a great day exploring Mont St Michele with our guide Michael. I rarrr erly ever do yours, as I like to explore myself. However it was so nice to have a person as knowledgeable as Michael who you could ask questions and he knew the answers. The Abbey was amazing - well worth the trip! My tour guide, Anna, was just wonderful - knowledgeable, personable, with total command of English. The best tour guide I’ve ever had!
