Wonderful experience. The monkey experience was absolutely worth the price. The cocoa and coffee bean demonstrations were good. Shorter sales pitch at the end would be better to sit through.
Tour guide Ruddy Piña was very impressive and knowledgeable in many county facts and accurate with descriptions and jokes. He was hilarious and easy to get along with.
We had an amazing time on the Monkeyland and Plantation Safari Tour! The entire experience was well organized, fun, and informative from start to finish. The staff, especially Ruddy and Pińa,was friendly, professional, and made sure everyone had a great time. Interacting with the monkeys was definitely the highlight—they were adorable, playful, and unforgettable! The plantation tour was also very interesting and gave us a chance to learn about local products and culture. Everything exceeded our expectations, and it was well worth the money. Eddy and Matias made the ride from the resort fun and educational on the way to the adventure. Once there, the monkeys were a great time for the whole family. Would definitely recommend it. You get up close and personal with monkeys and the plantation part of the tour was fun as well.

If you're booking Monkeyland expecting to spend quality time with the monkeys, you may want to adjust your expectations. In our experience, this tour was about 90% sales presentation and 10% monkeys. We paid about $95 per person, then spent roughly 1½ hours on the bus each way. Once we arrived, we sat through a lengthy presentation designed to sell additional products before finally getting less than an hour with the monkeys. You cannot pet them only take photos while they climb on you and, of course, you're encouraged to purchase the professional photos afterward. One thing I think potential visitors should know is that this tour is not ideal for anyone with mobility challenges. There are multiple sets of stairs, steep hills, and quite a bit of walking. While there are a few places to sit, much of the tour involves standing. The bright spot of the experience was the staff. Our tour guide, Baldy, noticed I was having difficulty walking and went above and beyond to accommodate me. He allowed me to sit while he gave me the instructions for interacting with the monkeys, so I didn't have to stand through the briefing or walk through the gift shop. At the end of the tour, he even arranged for our bus to pick us up at the top of the hill instead of making us walk back down and up again. Several families with strollers and others with mobility issues appreciated this thoughtful gesture. **Don Carlos**, who led the presentation, was very entertaining and personable. While I wasn't thrilled with the lengthy sales pitch, he was engaging, friendly, and even spent time chatting with me and sharing photos of his beautiful family. A special thank you also goes to our driver, **Edison**, who safely navigated the long drive and made the transportation portion of the tour comfortable. Overall, the staff deserved five stars for their kindness and customer service. Unfortunately, the tour itself didn't meet our expectations. We came to spend time with monkeys, not to sit through an extended sales presentation. Had there been more monkey interaction and less selling, this would have been a much more enjoyable experience.

The plantation visit, where guests learn about traditional Dominican products such as cocoa and coffee, is an important part of the excursion and is included in the tour description available before booking. For the safety and well-being of our squirrel monkeys, guests are kindly asked not to touch them. Instead, the monkeys interact naturally by climbing onto visitors, allowing for a unique and memorable experience while respecting their welfare. Professional photographs are available for purchase, but they are completely optional. Regarding accessibility, this excursion is unfortunately not recommended for guests with reduced mobility due to the uneven terrain, hills, stairs, and walking involved. This information is provided on our website so that guests can make the decision that best suits their individual needs. Nevertheless, whenever guests with mobility limitations choose to participate, our guides are always happy to provide as much assistance and support as possible throughout the experience.
