Mombacho-vulkanen, Cloud Forest
Beskrivelse
Turen op ad bakke er kun et eventyr i sig selv, vulkanens utrolige stejlhed garanterer en spektakulær 4x4-tur. Du vil se kaffeplantager og senere skyskoven. Udsigten er spektakulær herfra. Når du ankommer til toppen på 1.200 mts, vil temperaturen være faldet markant, og luftfugtigheden vil være høj. Det blæser altid, så husk at medbringe en ekstra sweater. Øverst er der et turistcenter, som rummer kort, fotos, modeller, souvenirs og mere interessant materiale. Der er også et cafeteria, hvor du kan få et lille måltid og drikkevarer, bruge badeværelset. Mombacho-vulkanen har fire kratere. Alle kraterne er dækket af skyskov, og du kan gå rundt om et af kraterne eller vandre rundt om flere kratere. Udover masser af forskellige træer og planter, der trives på grund af skyskovenes fugtighed, kan du også observere brøleaber og hvide ansigtsaber, såvel som slanger, hjorte, krybdyr, fugle og insekter.

Kraterforsøget giver mulighed for at gå gennem den eneste skyskov i Nicaraguas Stillehav. Du begynder at bestige vulkanen med en 4x4-lastbil og stopper for en lækker lokal kaffe på en af plantagerne undervejs. Når du er nær toppen, vil du nyde en kort, halvanden times guidet vandretur langs stien, der passerer gennem en række forskellige landskaber. Vi kan måske se brøleaber og aber med hvid ansigt, dovendyr, dartfrøer og den endemiske Mombachosalamander undervejs. Dværgskoven har fumaroler, og det er muligt at støde på flora og fauna i det lokale økosystem. Mod nord kan du se byen Granada, Granada-øerne, Asese-halvøen, Apoyo-lagunen og Masaya Volcano National Park.
Baldakinaktivitet! Canopy Tour er designet til alle familier. Den har en rute på 2 km, 17 platforme, 11 dobbeltlinjer og 3 hængebroer, som giver dig mulighed for at opleve akrobatik skabt til klienter som: Superman, Monkey, Tarzan eller The Butterfly.

We were picked up at our hotel and taken to an area partway up the mombacho volcano, where there was a nice little rest area and coffee plantation. We then rode in another vehicle, with others up the very steep road to the top, which was an adventure in itself. Once there we hiked around the crater which was a lot of up and down, but had many interesting overlooks and plants. Our guide, Israel was very knowledgeable and patient with my slowness, which was much appreciated. We were very glad that we took the time toget a better understanding of the volcano that we had been looking at from afar.

The tour operator will deny the terrain difficulty when directly asked multiple times in advance. They will cut your tour by two hours for no reason. And refuse to accommodate travelers who are unable to participate due to this misrepresentation. $240 down the drain, time wasted
At the summit of the volcano, there are three trails marked by the biological station: easy, moderate, and difficult. For our Mombacho tour, we chose the easy trail, which is designed to be family-friendly and suitable for older adults. Many of our past guests—families with children and senior travelers—have thoroughly enjoyed this hike (see their positive reviews below). That said, during our visit, a 7-year-old girl and a 78-year-old woman chose not to complete the trail. We always recommend that participants have a basic level of physical fitness to fully enjoy the experience.
It was my mom, me, my sister and 2 of my cousins who went on this tour. It was great! They picked us up from a location point I picked, which was a hotel, and dropped us off of course. They picked us up from a very nice van then we switched to a 4x4 to get to the volcano and then same on the way back. On the way back we did share the 4x4 with a couple but it was alright. The views are very nice and the air feels great.

Excellent views of the surrounding area. Gustavo is a treasure. Walked around the entire crater. Saw a lot of great flora but very little fauna. School kids were visiting and were loud and disruptive, scaring off monkeys and any other silvan denizens we were hoping to glimpe that morning.
