Mombacho Volcano Cloud Forest

Beskrivelse

I’ve yet to have a bad experience with Viator booked trips until this one. And I’ve booked dozens of trips through Viator with no issue. I received no contact from the tour company the day of the trip. I was at the meeting point 20 minutes early and stayed at the meeting spot until 30 minutes past the meeting time. No one showed up and when I tried to contact the company I was unable to. I think this company is a scam. Do not book with them.
Guide was great! The hike is interesting and I could see doing it at different times of the day and weather. The cost is a bit high for Nicaragua and it was unclear there what was included in the fee paid online. In the end it was cool and our guide was a great resource, kind, and caring!
My daughter and I enjoyed The tour our guide picked us up at our hotel in Granada. The drive was pleasant to the reserve and drop off point. Our guide was friendly and the hike up was just the amount of time for the experience.I found the climate change one of the most interesting parts along with the plants.
Not worth the money. More of a means of transportation than a tour. We were picked up from the hotel by a local taxi driver. We had no idea what was going on and he didn’t speak English (we booked an English tour). The taxi took us to the bottom of Mombacho where we got into a different vehicle with other tourists and a guide. Other than telling us to get into the van and that it would be “about twenty minutes” and “very steep”, we weren’t spoken to or given any information, details, etc. as would be expected on a tour. At the top, our tour guide took us to a few different viewpoints (admittedly beautiful - why this is getting two stars), showed us two steam holes, pointed out two birds, and two plants. Other than that, he led ahead of the group and did not speak to us or share about Nicaragua. After that, we came back down the mountain, got back into the taxi, and were taken back to our hotel. We were back to our hotel in under three hours (advertised as a 4.5 hour tour). The “coffee plantation” and “tasting” are also VERY misleading. You do not see or go to a coffee plantation. They are all over the volcano, but you don’t physically see any. You also don’t get to taste any coffee - they are referring to a coffee shop halfway up that they stop at for five minutes for anyone who wants to buy their own drink (and we had to beg for them to even stop here). Maybe one hour of silently walking through volcano and seeing three or four different viewpoints. That is ALL that this tour is. VERY misleading. Would not recommend. A scam and waste of money.
Hello Jenna, thank you for your feedback. It really helps up improve our services. Once we received your booking we tried to reach out to you regarding your request which was a little bit different to what we usually do on a regular tour. You wanted to hike and do a coffee tour. I messaged you directly explaining the options but never heard anything back from you. *************************************************** Hi thank you for your e-mail. You wil have a guide all the time. We drive you all the way to the Volcano Mombacho reception. Once there, we take a four-wheels drive all the way to the top. There we start the hike. The other option that some people take is to hike from the reception all the way to the top. This must take up to 3.5 plus an extra 2 hours hike on the top. Carlos Adan Reyes Rodriguez Apr 15, 2024, 10:45 AM Regarding the coffe farm visit, all the area is private. When available we can stop by to see the coffee plantations and take some coffee. When open we can do that. Carlos Adan Reyes Rodriguez Apr 15, 2024, 10:48 AM
An exciting ride uphill. Beautiful views and walking paths and explanations at each stop. Friendly and knowledgeable relaxed guide.
I went on a halfday tour to the nearby volcano Mombacho. Everything was perfect, starting from the initial communication, to transport and the guiding itself. Leonel is a very knowleadgable, enthusiastic and communicative guide. His english is excellent and even though I didn’t see many animals that day, he gave me lots of insights about the surroundings and history. The view was fantastic, the diversity of the cloud forest was just beautiful. I would definitely book a tour with Leonel an his team again!
Thank you for sharing your comments and for giving us the opportunity to show you a bit about our beautiful country . We are very happy to know your experience was great.
