I over 12 år har jeg arbejdet med verdensberømte fotografer og dokumentarfabrikanter, der arrangerer deres oplevelser for at skabe fantastiske billeder omkring Indien med en specialitet i den komplekse, kaotiske og overordentlig magiske City of Lights, Varanasi - den helligste by i Indien. I løbet af denne tid har jeg fundet ud af, at mobiltelefonkameraet giver en bemærkelsesværdig tilgængelighed for befolkningen på et mere øjeblikkeligt, behageligt og humant niveau. Sammen finder vi ud af, hvordan man tager billeder af de hellige mænd, hverdagen for arbejdere, markeder, industri, gadescener og borgerne i denne utrolige og mangfoldige kultur. Jeg nyder at dele min viden med dem, der er interesseret i at lære at skabe smukke billeder, uanset om du er en professionel fotograf, eller en kameraentusiast eller hobbyist.

Photographing the streets of Varanasi. There is so much to see. And walking on and photographing the ghats. We also took a boat ride, which was really nice.

Manoj has an amazing eye and he made it seem so easy to approach people and ask if they would let us photograph them. I gained confidence in asking people, even without a common language, if I could take their picture. And to just smile and say thank you if they didn’t want me too. He took us to the car parts market which he gathered we’d love by our conversations with him. I appreciated that he took us where we wanted to go as well as places he knew. Exhausting day but very fruitful and fun.

I’ve just spent a wonderful afternoon in the company of Manoj Fixer and Photographer here in Varanasi. I’m a keen amateur photographer with everything to learn about using my mobile phone - currently iPhone 8+. So, I booked with Manoj as he promised locations and characters that I’d never encounter on my own. It’s so easy to get lost in the lanes! I was not disappointed. From the outset he corrected my grip and we explored the capabilities of this camera phone. He had to keep checking my “bad”habits but that’s exactly the sort of tuition I needed! Mostly we shot portraits, in portrait mode to obtain a shallow depth of field. His well chosen backgrounds and light ensured that the subjects stood out / or with some he illustrated how to frame the subject to include her/his environment. Good tips and guidance regarding composition, eg moving around your subject. Throughout the session I learned how to approach people from Manoj ‘s example. I learned also how to direct my subjects. There were several highlights , including the two hour boat ride with a Sadu which was so much fun as well as producing some super images. Manoj is a charming young man, courteous, warm and happy to share his feelings and experiences. His years of expertise as a fixer were clearly evident too. Very professional from the moment I booked and I really appreciated his personal contacts via what’s app before we met up. He delivered all that was promised and “delivered” me safely back to my hotel in the evening. I would have loved to have spent another day with Manoj! Highly recommended!*****
We had a great time with Manoj who took amazing photos in the streets of Varanasi. He showed us places that tourists don’t usually see. Highly recommend him.
I was on a 5-day, one-on-one private tour with Manoj in Aug 2019. I immediately felt like I was traveling with a friend. Not only was he punctual, reliable, energetic and conversational with the local people - he was also very patient, light-hearted, and accommodating. He was very compassionate toward my needs throughout the five days to make the often chaotic and very HOT August days as comfortable as possible! This was my third trip to Varanasi & every day was full of beautiful NEW experiences & sites/sights I had not seen before.
I signed up for 5 days of mobile phone street photography workshop. Without being pedantic, Manoj brought me to several backstreets of Varanasi India where there were many people doing laundry, construction work, selling vegetables and fruits,chatting, worshiping.. he showed me how to hold the camera, and common and obscure camera functions. We had fun, and ended up with outstanding photos. Manoj is intuitive, relates well to all cultures, and uses a mobile phone himself for street photography..
