Serene, åndelige, magiske, mystiske, ekstraordinære, betagende, enorme, inspirerende, imponerende. Disse er kun nogle af de ord, folk ofte bruger i et forsøg på at beskrive Meteora-fænomenet. Besøg Meteora, selvom dine interesser ikke er dybt religiøse. Det er den eneste måde at berige dine følelser af åndelighed, som dette område allerede udstråler, uanset hvor lang tid eller kort dit ophold i vores smukke land.
Stor Meteoron Kloster er den største og ældste af alle. Det blev kaldt klosteret, der var "suspenderet i luften" (meteoro), på grund af dannelsen af den gigantiske sten, på hvilken den blev bygget. Det store Meteoro-klosteret blev grundlagt af Saint Athanasios Meteorite, som var klostrets første grundlægger og arrangøren af den systematiske koenovion. Af denne grund anses fundamentet for dette kloster som et vendepunkt, eller endnu bedre, begyndelsen af det organiserede monastisikme i Holy Meteora. Hosios Athanasios blev født omkring 1302 i den middelalderlige by New Patras, dagens Hypati og hans læg navn var Andronikos.
Det Hellige Kloster Varlaam er det næststørste kloster. Det ligger modsat af Great Meteoro Monastery og blev grundlagt i midten af det 14. århundrede af den udøvende Hosios Varlaam. Det elegante klosterkatholicon blev bygget til ære for Agioi Pantes i 1541-42, af to brødre fra Ioannina, præstmonterne Hosioi Theophanes og Nectarios Apsarades. Hovedkirken blev indrettet i 1548. Baseret på stilistiske kriterier, er dette storslåede vægmaleri henført til den berømte hagiograf fra Thebes, Frago Catelano.
Det Hellige Treenighedskloster (Agia Triada) er det sværeste at nå, men når du først kommer til toppen, er panoramaudsigtet af omgivelserne simpelthen fængslende! Dette kloster ligger meget tæt på Saint Stephen's Nunnery og ligger på en stejl og storslået sten. Det var allerede blevet organiseret kloster siden året 1362 som angivet i et dokument af Symeon Uressis Palaeologos. Besøgende skal følge en vej, der leder dem først til foden af klippen, før de begynder at gå op omkring 140 trin.
han hellige kloster af Saint Nicholas of Anapafsas er det første kloster vi møder på vej til den hellige meteora og blev grundlagt i slutningen af det 14. århundrede. For navnet Anapafsas er der talrige fortolkninger, hvoraf to er de mest populære. Den første er, at navnet Anapafsas blev tilskrevet af et af klostrets velfærdsmænd, mens den anden forklaring har at gøre med klostrets position som den første, der kommer på vejen op og sandsynligvis tjente til pilgrimerne og andre besøgende som en hvilende sted inden du fortsætter.

Despite it being a long day (4 hours each way and 14.5 hours overall), I thoroughly recommend doing this trip. The views of the monasteries on top of the rock formations are breathtaking. The guide was informative, the coach comfortable and the lunch was good.

This tour was everything we needed. Comfortable transportation, safe driver and excellent guide. Plenty of stops and time to take wonderful photo oppertunities. Lunch and Dinner breaks were adequate, although the food and service was mediocre, and to be expected when dealing with large coach numbers, throughput was the main objective of the restaurant. Ordering the food ahead of time was seamless. 10 hours of driving time to consider when booking this trip but the endpoint was worth the drive.

Very organised from the beginning. Easy meeting spot. Comfortable bus. Great place to stop for bathroom and snacks. Guide in Meteora was awesome. Well done Dimitris!! Dinner at Camino was beautiful!! Sunset over the beach. Pre ordering was an easy service, much recommended. Would definitely recommend the day. Get your walking shoes on. Walk up to first monastery was intense!

Most wonderful long day The trip was well organized and provided several stops for pictures. Also made rest stops for brunch, lunch & dinner (food not included). Guide was most excellent. Experience was excellent, length of visit was appropriate and comfortable. crowd size was suitable to our needs, Katarina was excellent in her interactions with all of us, and she was knowledgable about rock formation, caves and monsteries.
