Medici i Firenze: en historie om penge, magt og sladder!
Beskrivelse
Når vi går fra den ene ende af byens centrum til den anden, vil vi gøre dig lidenskabelig over de meget private begivenheder i en af de mest berømte familier i historien: Medici. Vi vil bruge to timer i balancen mellem sladder og sandhed, vi vil tale om berømte og ukendte mennesker, vi vil beskæftige os med det hellige og vanhellige. Fra piazza Santissima Annunziata til Palazzo Pitti vil der ikke være tid til at kede sig! Passerer forbi Palazzo Medici, den første ædle bolig i familien, stopper vi ved kirken San Lorenzo, bygget til deres smag og størrelse. Ankommer til katedralen, vil vi opdage familiens involvering i skabelsen af det, der stadig betragtes som et mirakel af renæssancearkitekturen: Brunelleschis kuppel. Herfra når vi hjertet af byens politiske magt, Palazzo Vecchio, og når vi krydser den ældste bro i Firenze, når vi frem til omdrejningspunktet for Medici-ambitionen: Palazzo Pitti.

Federico was amazing in all of her knowledge about the tour. She walked us through all the important places and explained in detail how each building and history it portained to the Medici family. Answered questions and was patient.

The details you don't know and so much they say. As a family was able to gather so much power and also share it with their community.
Given a precipitously announced rail strike, need to change dates to the following day. Even though there were no tours covering the same content for the next dat, the representative at Viator found one for us: Antonio Bencista. He was stellar, providing detailed history of everything Medici. What's more, my wife and I were his sole students. In addition to providing us with precise background information about the Medici family, he encouraged and was able to answer any questions we dreamed up, about the Medici's, Florence, Italy or Italy's place & perspective at any point in world history. Outstanding. Of note, Viator did NOT charge us a penalty fee for the needed change in tour dates (unlike Crown Tours who slapped us with a 65 euro/pp fee for a date change necessitated by the same rail strike).

Our DAR Chapter went. There were 10 of us. We all love history. You can't beat the ticket price. The Director of Meadow Garden was our tour guide. She was so professional, knowledgeable and very sweet. So glad that we went. There are lots of good restaurants close by. There was plenty of free parking. They are open M-F but a group can schedule a tour on Saturday if needed. That is what we did.
