I get motion sickness but the drive was smooth, so didnt have any issues. The long drive and early wake up were so worth it. Seeing the colors, the stars and the moon, and then the sunrise were spectacular.
Viewing the sunrise from the top of Haleakala crater above the clouds at 10,000 ft is an indescribable experience! Yes, you have to get up at 2:00 a.m. Yes, it is windy and cold but it is an experience not to be missed! Our guide and driver Brad did a great job of getting us there in plenty of time to view the sunrise as well as providing fleece lined ponchos to improve our comfort. You watch the sky as it transitions from a star filled blackness to a faint gold color appearing on the horizon followed by a brilliant flash of light as the sun rises above the clouds! Two native Hawaiian men loudly chanted a traditional Hawaiian greeting to the Sun as it rose above the horizon which made the experience tremendously moving. Following the sunrise we stayed on the summit and viewed the crater below before proceeding to a very nice prearranged breakfast and then back to our ship. Brad navigated us through the whole experience with humor and professionalism. Don't miss this once in a lifetime experience!!
This company was excellent at communicating with patrons. Pick up at our resort was very convenient. Capable drivers and very knowledgeable about the history of the area. Highly recommend!

Jeff was a super knowledgeable tour guide. Everything was super tight. From the pickup time. To the timing of breakfast and the drop off. Very well run. And of course the experience is one I’ll never forget. Dress warmer than you think. It’s freezing on top of the mountain!
The tour was wonderful. They provided warm fleece hooded blankets which was really helpful with the cold weather at the top. The breakfast was delicious and the views were incredible. Everette gave us such great explanations and history along the way. You could do this cheaper and on your own but this was 100% worth not dealing with the hassle and having someone experienced take you. We were back in time to enjoy the rest of the day at the pool!

Early hour is worth getting a good spot. Don’t under dress. Gloves would have been great. This tour operator provided lines ponchos—so nice. Other operators did not. Brrrr. It was super windy.
