Beliggende i kludetæppet ved foden af storslåede Kilimanjaro ligger den smukke landsby Materuni, hjemsted for vores Chagga-venner og berømt for sin aromatiske, rige kaffe. På denne duftende og sjove dag ude vil du vandre den korte, men udfordrende rute til Materuni-vandfaldene, og du kan stå under vandet, mens de fosser ned i en rolig pool, der er sikker til badning. Og du får lyst til at hoppe direkte ind - efter at være blevet svedig (ok, glødende) fra din vandretur, er der ikke noget mere beroligende end at flyde i det kølige vand fra Kilimanjaro-bjerget. På vej til/fra vandfaldene får du en chance for at komme ind i en lokal bar for at prøve bananvin/øl. Dernæst får du en chance for at lave din egen kop kaffe på den rigtige måde, og du vil finde ud af hemmeligheden bag den perfekte kop kaffe fra det lokale Chagga-folk. Nyd din lokale varme frokost, så siger vi farvel og begynder at gå tilbage til Moshi by fra denne mindeværdige oplevelse!

Du bliver hentet i Moshi eller dit definerede sted om morgenen af vores chauffør, som kører dig til Materuni Village. Ved ankomsten tilmelder du dig på landsbykontoret, og din tur kan begynde. Først besøger du vandfaldene, som ligger omkring 35 minutters gang væk. På vejen vil din guide informere dig om Chagga-kulturen, landsbylivet og forklare den omkringliggende fauna og flora. Udsigten er virkelig betagende, og med lidt held vil du se toppen af Kilimanjaro. Poolen i bunden af vandfaldet er et indbydende sted for en forfriskende svømmetur, så glem ikke dit badetøj! Efter at have nydt landskabet, vender du langsomt tilbage med din guide til et traditionelt hus, hvor du vil opleve en traditionel Chagga frokost. Dernæst venter kaffeoplevelsen på dig. Her lærer du hvordan kaffe dyrkes, tørres, brændes og videreforarbejdes og du laver din egen kop kaffe og drikke. Derefter starter vi køreturen tilbage til dit hotel i Moshi.

I really enjoyed the tour. The Guild were really nice and explained everything really well. We started with a nice Scenic route up the mountain. Visited a local farm and learned everything about coffee. I made my own coffee from the beans whilst the local people were singing and dancing. Witch was amazing. After this we had a nice hike to the waterfall witch was beautiful. Definitely worth it. The lunch was delicious.
An essential tour if you are in Moshi. Nick is a very professional local guide and Materuni local guides as well. You will spend an unforgettable day

Thanks Nick for a great tour. We ground and made our own coffee the way the local do it, before getting to drink it. After hiking up to the waterfront and back we were treated to a tasty lunch. This felt like an authentic experience and contributes to the local people. No pressure. Nothing was rushed. A great day.
A big thanks to Nick and guide OZ for making this tour memorable. We first stopped off at a village in the foothills where the locals grow their own coffee shrubs. The process from berry to cup was shown along with singing and dancing. Then we hiked up to the waterfall listening to Africa by Toto and Queens Bohemian Rhapsody( Freddie Mercury was of course born in Zanzibar). Then back to the village for a traditional lunch with Banana beer. Nick and his partners go the extra mile to make sure you have a special experience to remember. I started out as a customer and left Tanzania with Nick as good friend for life.
This was amazing, the walk, the views and if you love coffee, you must do this trip. We learned also a lot about the people and plants there, and lunch was great!
Excellent guide. The coffee experience was informative and engaging. The waterfall is beautiful and a nice day hike. It’s a great tour for people about to head out on the Kilimanjaro trek.
Nick is very punctual and helpful and speaks very good English. He knows and explains a lot. His tours are always well organized including lunch with the locals. Try not to lure you into shops after the tour to buy souvenirs or similar as many other guides. Highly recommended.
We chose with nick which itinerary was best suited to us. We preferred to see the Materuni waterfalls and took us there on the first day combined with the coffee tour. The second day we wanted to visit the chagga village and after relax and take a bath at the chemka hotsprings. Nick is very helpful and explains a lot of things along the way. Driving very safe also because it is in the mood of the pole pole area (slowly). Recommended

Spent a great day in Materuni and the Hotsprings! Stunning nature along the hike and a very friendly and knowledgeable guide who answered all my questions and explained a lot! Also, nice experience to discover local coffee production and and a delicious lunch. The weather wasn’t too great at first, but the gloomy atmosphere gave it a beautiful vibe and it didn’t matter at all! Asante sana!
