The plantation grounds were beautiful. The house tour was very interesting. The staff was very knowledgable and kind.
The house tour was great, the guide was knowledgable. The house tour took about a half an hour. Then we took a nature train ride that was not great at 110 feel temperature which went through the swamp where everyone was attacked by mosquitoes . This time of year it’s probably not necessary. We r from FL we see alligators and turkeys all the time. The slave quarters were interesting but in Boon Hall they had recording and writings about the buildings. Again it was too hot to walk the gardens. The Shuttle dropped us off for 4 hours all 9 people on our tour were done after 2 hours. We didn’t have anywhere to go to get out of the heat. Probably much nicer in cooler months. If going in the summer month best to take your own transportation.
Our driver and tour guide, Greg, was the best: extremely friendly and so knowledgeable! He was pointing out interesting places and facts about Charleston as we were driving through the city (churches, types of houses, the Palmetto Palms and the State Flag) on the way to the Magnolia Plantation. He then spent time preparing us for what to expect when we arrived, what we would see, and the timeframes for each tour. He made sure we were comfortable by pointing out where the restrooms were located and where we could purchase food and drink. We walked through gardens, around swamps and the Ashley River. Greg explained so many interesting facts that we would never have known if we simply drove ourselves and walked around the place. He pointed out wildlife as we walked (alligators, herons, egrets, turtles and anhinga). Thankfully we did not see any snakes! He even took the time to take our photo at the picturesque long white bridge (suitable for framing)! I highly recommend this tour. The bus ride was very comfortable, and the smaller group size was perfect.
We had a great time on this tour. Greg was a wonderful guide who took care of us and made sure to add more history along the way.
During summer months be sure to bring water with you and wear good walking shoes. Our guide was fantastic, friendly and very knowledgable.
Beautiful scenery with narration along the way. Craig did an excellent job keeping the tour updated on times, pickups, and details. He even took pictures of everyone on the bridge individually. It's about 4 hours between drive time and tours. You get a walking garden tour, a tram tour through the forest, and a house tour included with spare time to grab a snack or visit the wildlife center or enslaved quarters. You could easily spend another hour or two there walking the grounds.
House tour was excellent. Our tour driver Greg was excellent. He was very informative and did a great job looking after everyone to make sure they weee having a good time.
The bus driver was very knowledgeable. He gave us a wealth of information. The garden was beautiful. The tram ride was so much fun. We saw alot of wildlife. The house was magnificent. I would definitely recommend.
It was a good tour exploring the plantation. Shawn did a great job explaining the history on the bus and on the property. It is beautiful. The trolley ride was amazing. We got to see many birds and gators. I would highly recommend this tour.
Be prepared for walking on uneven surfaces and a few stairs. Very enjoyable tram tour with house and garden tour
