We are extremely happy with this excursion and can highly recommend it. Everything was very well organized from start to finish. The team was punctual, friendly, professional, and made the whole experience both fun and informative. We were lucky enough to see both whales and dolphins up close, which was truly unforgettable. It was an amazing experience, and we would definitely book this tour again!
Very fairly priced for the experience, it was the perfect amount of time to enjoy the waves and see the sea life as well as the sights around the edge of the island. The guides were very friendly and good at explaining the sights as well as pointing out the local sea life. The atmosphere was very lively and the amount of people on the boat was by no means unbearable.
What can I say, very disappointed. We had such high hopes for this trip and sadly were simply let down. First of all, there are too many people on the boat (around 130). We did manage to see one Bryde whale from the boat, but we were barely able to see it due to all the heads in front of us. I would say the actual whale watching time is at most a third of the allocated time of the trip (a long three hours). It seemed once we had ticked off seeing one whale, we headed back inland and did a tour of the coast line, which was fine but not what was advertised. We were baffled to find the boat completely stopping to let people go swimming (which again, was not advertised and we did not have any knowledge to bring our swimming gear so were just sat people watching instead of whale and dolphin watching!). We appreciate you can’t control the quantity of marine life spotted, but we expected to spend the whole time actively looking for them, or at the very least have an explanation as to why the wildlife watching turned into a basic tour of the island. If you are serious about wildlife watching then do not book this, we deeply regret not booking the small boat/group tour. If you are happy to just sit on a boat for three hours and enjoy the ride then go ahead, but it was simply not what we wanted.
Wonderful trip, clean and spacious catamaran. Friendly and polite staff. Reasonably priced drinks and snacks . Best of all we saw three whales and bottle nose dolphins.
Crew were very knowledgeable but far too overcrowded and this affected our enjoyment. Each time a whale or dolphin was spotted everyone rushed to see and due to the sheer number of people it made the whole experience very unpleasant.
Thank you for your feedback. During the high season all boats in Madeira operate at their maximum licensed capacity, and this can sometimes make the experience feel more crowded, especially when wildlife is sighted and guests naturally move to get a better view. However, we do offer an alternative for guests who prefer a more exclusive and comfortable experience. Our Magic Dolphin Celebrity Catamaran takes only 35 people on regular trips, at exactly the same price, providing a much more relaxed atmosphere with plenty of space for everyone. For your next visit, we highly recommend choosing this option to ensure a more enjoyable and spacious dolphin and whale watching experience.
Amazing adventure! So glad we booked it. We saw 6 whales and a pod of bottle nosed dolphins. Went swimming by Cabo Girao point, while the catamaran stopped for all of us to enjoy. The captain was super considerate of the amazing wild animals and didn’t disturb them at all. Highly recommend! Would do it again next time we are in Madeira.
A very enjoyable experience and definitely worth doing while visiting Madeira. The dolphin show was entertaining and well organised, with plenty of opportunities to see the animals up close. The staff were friendly and professional throughout. While it didn’t quite reach a five-star experience for us, it was still a memorable activity and one that both adults and children can enjoy. Worth considering if you’re looking for something different to do during your stay.
We have done a Magic Dolphin sea safari before so opted for the catamaran trip this time. We pre-booked with Viator before our trip and arrived at the meeting point 30 minutes prior to the scheduled time. Boarding was quick and easy and we set off bang on time. We saw a large group of spotted dolphins very quickly then went on to see bottlenose dolphins, a sea turtle, 3 types of whale, a large amount of birds and some flying fish! We were informed each time there was a sighting and where on the boat it was best to see them and the information given was very interesting. There was a bar selling drinks and snacks and toilets were available. An excellent trip out!

Nice experience and friendly staff. The duration of the trip was fine. Luckily I saw some dolphins.
