Fantastic introduction to Laos food and Ploy was an excellent guide with a great local knowledge. Massive selection of snacks and a massive full meal. Includes drinks. Driver was also excellent. Can’t thank Ploy enough for all the ideas for the rest of our stay. 100% recommended and great value.
Great experience in Luang Prabang for those looking to try out local foods and experience the local markets. Tour guide was great
Poly was great guide ,she showed is around old town at Luangprabang, we had good food and tuktuk excursions
Ployy was a good guide but not very inclusive. She walked very quickly and spoke mostly with the one (of 4) people that kept up with her. We were back to our hotel in 2 1/2 hours versus the 3 or 3 1/2 hours advertised. However, the activities we experienced were nice and fun. We were very wet as it was the beginning of the New Years celebration. The food we sampled was good.
Guide Tony was wonderful (though sometimes hard to understand), but this was disappointing overall. The description said: "Zip through the streets and alleys of the Old Quarter as you visit local, family-run restaurants you won’t find on your own... Immersive way to experience Laotian cuisine and culture. Learn about food traditions and specialties from local families. Enjoy a more intimate experience with a small group... We only try the best local food in the city at places where only locals go that are truly off the beaten path. You won't see any other tourists, these are family-run restaurants that you can't find on your own. " There was no group, it was only me, which was awkward. We went to no restaurants and met no families all--just grabbed some food from street vendors at the night market--which I definitely could have found on my own! And I saw nothing but tourists everywhere. I definitely did not learn about any "food traditions and specialties"--or anything else. My two hour visit to the night market and eating some street food did not any way resemble the description of this tour. A pleasant enough diversion, but nothing that I expected. Disappointing.
Me and my fiancee went on the tour with our guide Aping. We had an immediate connection with her and knew it was gonna be a great evening from the start. Aping has a great command of English, she is kind, caring and very professional. She took us to food markets where locals usually eat and allowed us to enjoy a genuine Laos gastronomical experience, while also providing valuable insight about the various buildings or monuments encountered along the way. Her sweet personality added tremendous value to an otherwise great tour. We highly recommend Aping for this tour and once again thank her for a beautiful evening and wish her all the best.
Great your. Got to try lots of different new food we would never have discovered on our own. Aping was fantastic. Very friendly and knowledgeable
!!! It's not going exactly as described in the ad! .....visit the local family and eat with them at night! NO .....only the locals go and are really off the beaten track! NO ....You will not see other tourists, these are family restaurants that you can not find on your own! FALSE ... you will discover the families who have been making their specialties for generations, ....NOT REALLY .....The tour will end in a local guest house close to the city! FALSE
An interesting introduction to Laotian food. We visited street traders and discovered foods that the locals eat and then enjoyed a hot pot cooked at our table using fresh ingredients we had bought during the tuk-tuk Tour. Overall a fun evening.
We went to local markets and bought some good food and had great BBQ at a place where only the locals hang out - great experience!!
