Denne Salzburg Bike Tour er det perfekte supplement til vores vandreture. Mens vi udforsker den historiske gamle bydel i Salzburg på vandreturene, tager cykelturen os med ind i naturen omkring Salzburg. Men cykelturen viser dig ikke kun omgivelserne i Salzburg, men tager os også til nogle af de mest ikoniske optagelsessteder i Sound of Music og fortæller historien om optagelserne af Sound of Music-filmen, men også den sande historie af Trapp-familien i Salzburg. Vi rider langs den ældste statelige allé i Centraleuropa og finder adskillige slotte, som i historien blev brugt af ærkebiskopper og adel, før de fungerede som optagelsessteder for filmen. Vores mødested for Lonely Goatherd Bike Tour i Salzburg ligger lige uden for den gamle bydel i Salzburg. Derfor tager det kun 2 minutter på cykel at transit fra byen til det smukke landskab, der omgiver Salzburg.

Frohnburg er et af slottene, der ligger langs stien til Hellbrunn-slottet langs "Hellbrunner Allee", prins-ærkebiskoppens gyde. Frohnburg var slottet, der blev brugt til facaden af huset i filmen Sound of Music. I dag hører det til universitetet for musik i Salzburg, hvorfor du ofte kan høre klassisk musik komme indefra.
Hellbrunn-slottet er højdepunktet i Salzburgs omgivelser. Hellbrunn er mest kendt for trickfontænerne, men Hellbrunn er også et stop på enhver Sound of Music-turné på grund af lysthuset fra den seksten-sytten-sang fra filmen. Da vi ankommer til Hellbrunn efter 5 kilometers cykling, holder vi en kort pause for at se parken, paladset udefra og pavillonen og for at få noget at drikke eller spise, hvis det ønskes.
Leopoldskron, et slot fra første halvdel af 1700-tallet, og Leopoldskroner Weiher, en kunstig sø skabt til slottet, blev også brugt i The Sound of Music. Leopoldskron Slot blev brugt som bagside af huset, hvor Maria og børnene hang i træerne, og hvor de kæntrede med båden. Slottet ejes nu af den amerikanske fond "Salzburg Global Seminar". Parken er kun tilgængelig for gæster på Hotel Schloss Leopoldskron. Vi kan altså ikke besøge parken direkte, men mens vi cykler rundt i dammen får vi en fantastisk udsigt fra den anden side.
Nonnberg Abbey er ikke kun det ældste kloster for kvinder i verden, men var også klosteret fra Sound of Music. Klosteret ligger tæt på mødestedet for Salzburg Bike Tour. Derfor stiger vi op til klosteret, inden vi afslutter turen. Nonnberg Abbey er let forhøjet, hvilket giver endnu en fantastisk udsigt over omgivelserne i den sydlige del af Salzburg og over alperne i det fjerne. Vi kan ikke gå ind i klosteret, men vi kan gå ind i kirken og kirkegården, som vil give dig en idé om, hvad klostret handler om.

Our tour with Johannes was a 10/10!!! He was very funny, engaging, knowledgeable and really brought the beautiful city of Salzburg to life!!! HIGHLY recommend this tour :).
This was a huge tick off my bucket list and something I’ve wanted to do since I first visited Salzburg as a poor student 44 years ago ! We opted for the bicycle tour as something a bit idiosyncratic and it lived up to all expectations. We bicycled through the most gorgeous countryside around Salzburg and visited many of the films iconic locations all the while to the accompaniment of the soundtrack with the added fun of group sing a longs ! I know it sounds corny but it was fabulous! Our tour guide Roberta was a complete gem and we enjoyed so many of her stories behind the scenes of SOM and Austria in general Has to be one of my fav days !

Brendan was our guide and he was simply delightful. We had so much fun visiting the Sound of a music sites via bike. The other patrons became friends and it was an amazing tour
This was my favourite tour of Salzburg. So lovely to be out on a bike on a beautiful day. You get to stop at the sound of music sites. Highly recommend
We were not sure about getting a Sound of Music tour since others were booked up. We lucked into talking with Gary, the bartender at our youth hostel, who told about this tour company and that he was leading a bike tour the next day! We were traveling with our two sons, ages 12 and 9. Gary made it super entertaining for the entire group of adults and the boys, including a quick jump into the canal for a cool swim. He was knowledgeable and shared pictures and great stories. The ride was the perfect length of around 2 hours. Also got some wonderful pictures. Thanks Gary!!

Brendan made this trip really fun! We had a nice ride to all of the highlighted locations from the movie, and even a few bonus stops. He gave some great behind-the-scenes information about the movie during the tour as well. You can tell he really appreciates not only the Sound of Music, but the overall culture of Salzburg.

The tour Guide I think his name was Gary or maybe it was Tim, was really enjoyable, had a nice conversation about wildlife really knowledgable guy about hippos funnily enough which are my favourite animal, any ways back to the point i would highly recommend this tour just to get out and see the place, the guide made it excellent touring

Gary from Cork was our guide and he was very helpful and reassuring as I was a little nervous cycling as I hadn't done it in quite a while. He has a huge knowledge on not only The Sound of Music but also the Von Trapp family and he was able to give the answers to whatever questions were thrown at him. It was a fabulous cycle and I was so pleased that I decided to do this...one if the highlights of my holiday in Austria

The tour guide was very informative and engaged throughout the entire tour. The scenery we biked through was absolutely beautiful and I learned a lot! I would totally recommend this experience to anyone!
The meeting spot was a little outside the town and the guide was unsure where the WC was, and that is probably a necessary thing to know. We did find one before we departed but had to find one nearby on our own. There was only one stop i didn't need to see and that was the pink flamingo colony. Other than that tour was great and guide very nice and shared great insights into the movie
