Construído para substituir um outro mercado, demolido em 1876, blev indviet i 1930. Destacam-se os painéis de azulejos no interior, retratando como diversas actividades económicas da cidade, af autoría do gravador e pintor português Pedro Pinto, datados de 1929.

My wife and I took this tour yesterday, and it was the absolute highlight of our trip. From the moment we were picked up, we felt like we were getting a truly exclusive experience. Ricardo was FANTASTIC! Not only did he share his love for Portugal, but he took the time to explain the culture and give us the “real” experience. From the trip to the fish market, the drive through the mountain with stops along the way (the views were AMAZING!), the restaurant we stopped for lunch and the winery tours - it was a wonderful day! Riccardo provided an incredible personalized tour of Southern Portugal. We visited an amazing market, national Park, an old military base, an unbelievable tile making company, and a couple vineyards. Riccardo customized the tour to anything we wanted to do. He was extremely knowledgeable with any questions we had. He took tons of pictures for us.
