"Press and Publishing Street" (Hankou Road) har været Kinas overskrift i over 150 år.

I had a great walk around Shanghai and eating breakfast dishes. The communication before the trip was helpful. I knew exactly where to meet Jane. The food stops were tasty and definitely filling! I also really enjoyed the history of the area in between stops. I think my favorite item was the egg wrap around a youtiao donut.
Dear Explorer, Thank you so much for your 5-star review! I'm really glad you enjoyed the walk, the breakfast stops, and the history in between. It's great to hear that the pre‑trip communication helped you find Jane without any trouble. And yes – the egg wrap with youtiao is a local classic; I'm thrilled it was your favorite! Your kind words mean a lot to us. We'd love to have you back for another tasty adventure in Shanghai someday! Kind regards Monster Day Tours Team
I thoroughly enjoyed Jane’s Shanghai food tour. We started the morning with a delicious variety of local favourites, including egg rolls, fried dough with scallions, soy milk, sheng jian bao, noodles, xiao long bao, and lamb skewers, before ending with a lovely dessert. What made the tour special was the balance between eating and exploring. Jane led us through People’s Park, giving us time to digest while sharing interesting insights into Shanghai’s history. The walking pace was comfortable, and she never rushed us. It was a wonderful combination of great food, a pleasant stroll, and local culture. Highly recommended!
Dear Explorer, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We‘re truly happy you enjoyed the tour with Jane – from the delicious breakfast bites to the relaxing stroll through People's Park. We had such a great time today. Jane took us to a lot of great places and we ate so much food.! We now also know where to go during our next days here. Highly recommend!
Dear Explorer, Thank you so much for choosing us! So glad you had such a delicious and fun day with Jane! 🍜 Nothing better than leaving a tour not just full—but with a plan for the rest of your trip. Thanks for the high recommendation, and happy exploring (and eating!) for the days ahead. Warmly, The Monster Day Tours Team
Far from an ideal beginning with technical issues causing a mix up with my booking - the undeniable commitment to service excellence coupled with a "can do" attitude of this tour operator - resulted in a guide racing across Shanghai to my location for an unscheduled private tour just for me. Impressive ! The tour itself consisted of a perfect blend of hidden "hole in the wall" gems to popular local cafes to established quality restaurants. The first stop and possibly my favourite was for the Jianbing - chinese crepe. A piping hot parcel of flavour that looks too simple for the taste sensation it delivers. Don't be put off by the queue - it only confirms you are on a winner. Jane reassuringly advises it is the only stop that requires queuing - everywhere else is virtually instant taste bud gratification. The Shanghai staples of Xiaolongbao and Shengjinbao do not disappoint and my standards are high. The bbq lamb skewer was another highlight for me - literally eating while standing by the road side. The meat was so tender and succulent it causes a salivary response just writing about it. Fittingly the tour ends with tea and sweets at a Cantonese restaurant. Although predominantly food focused the tour is interspersed with a stroll through People's Park and much interesting information about Shanghai, its people, the culture and of course its remarkable history. Shanghai is a wonderful city and many tours I am sure can provide a memorable introduction to it and the food especially. Monster Tours however is one group I can vouch for goes the extra mile to ensure not only your tummy is full but you leave with inspired memories borne from their genuine passion and desire to showcase their city. Thank you and well done Jane !

We are so glad that our team’s "can do" attitude and genuine passion for service turned your experience into something memorable. Thank you for trusting Monster Tours. Your recognition inspires us to continue sharing the real, beautiful, and delicious side of China and Shanghai with more travellers from around the world. We truly hope to welcome you again one day. Until then, safe travels and warmest wishes from all of us. With sincere gratitude, The Monster Tours Team & Jane
We joined Jane's 3.5 hour brunch/lunch tour. She was great -- friendly, knowledge and flexible. Highly recommend if you're in Shanghai, even if only for a short stay.
Dear Explorer, Thank you for your generous review and for trusting us during your short stay in Shanghai. We're so happy Jane made the tour flexible, fun, and worth your time. Your feedback means a lot — and we will definitely keep your suggestion in mind. Hope to see you again next time! Cheers, Monster Day Tours Shanghai
Booking the Shanghai Flavours & Culture Tour with our friend group was easily one of the best parts of our trip. Within minutes we were standing on the street eating soup dumplings and laughing over who nearly burned their tongue first. Walking through People's Park while locals were out doing their morning routines made the whole experience feel real and grounded, not touristy. Our guide, Sophia, made everything flow effortlessly. She was warm, knowledgeable, and never scripted and more like a local friend showing us her favorite breakfast spots. With Monster Day Tours handling all the logistics, we skipped the usual confusion at busy stalls and even snagged seats at places we never could’ve managed alone, including Dexingguan. What I loved most was how natural it all felt, weaving through backstreets, sharing scallion pancakes straight from the griddle, and comparing our favorite bites as we went. By the end, we weren’t just full; we felt genuinely connected to the city. For a trip with friends, it was the perfect mix of fun, flavor, and authenticity.
Dear Explorer, Thanks so much for sharing this! We're so happy to hear the Shanghai Flavours & Culture Tour was such a highlight for your group. Sophia sounds like she did an amazing job showing you around like a local friend — from those first soup dumplings to hidden gems like Dexingguan. We love that you got to experience the real, everyday rhythm of the city through its food and morning vibes. Thanks for choosing Monster Day Tours — hope to explore more flavors with you next time. Kind Regards, Monster Day Tours Shanghai
The tour was a memorable experience for us as a couple. It felt like we were discovering a hidden side of Singapore through the lens of authentic Shanghai cuisine. We loved how the tour blended incredible flavours with cultural storytelling where every dish had a history, and every stop had its own unique atmosphere. Our guide, Sophia, made the morning feel effortless and personal. She navigated the busy spots with ease, shared stories that brought the heritage behind the food to life, and made us feel completely at home. It didn’t feel like a standard food tour, it felt like being shown around by a knowledgeable friend who genuinely loves what she does. The pacing was perfect for us as a couple, relaxed enough to enjoy each bite and conversation, yet packed with variety. Highly recommend this experience for anyone wanting more than just a meal as it’s a true cultural journey.
Dear Explorer, The best tours don't just show you a place—they give you a feeling you carry home. Sophia was genuinely touched reading your words. She said guiding you both through Shanghai's morning rhythm felt effortless because you brought such curiosity and warmth to every stop. We love that you experienced this not just as a food tour, but as a cultural journey shared together as a couple. The way you describe it—discovering a hidden side of the city through authentic flavors, with history woven into every bite—is exactly the magic we hope to create. Thank you for trusting us with your morning, and for reminding us why we do what we do. Cheers, Monster Day Tours Shanghai
The Shanghai Flavours & Culture MDT is an experience simply shouldn’t be missed. Rather than being ushered mechanically from one stop to the next, I was immersed in the vibrant rhythm of Shanghai’s morning life. From the excitement of snagging the legendary egg crepe at a buzzing street stall to wandering hidden lanes with warm pancake in hand, every moment felt special. Each stop peeled back another layer of the city: the famous line at the International Hotel, the peaceful everyday scenes in the park, and the energetic, meat-lover’s haven of Zhejiang Road. The whole experience felt authentic and delightfully unpolished. Our guide, Alice, felt less like a tour leader and more like a well-connected local, sharing Shanghai’s best-kept culinary secrets. This tour offers genuine, unscripted delight and a true sense of the city’s heartbeat—an essential experience for inquisitive travelers.
Dear Explorer, What a beautiful snapshot of a Shanghai morning! Reading your words, I could almost smell the scallion pancakes and feel the quiet magic of those hidden lanes. We're so glad the tour felt like a genuine discovery rather than just a checklist—that's exactly the kind of connection we aim for. Alice will be over the moon to know she came across as a well-connected local (because honestly, that's what she is!). Thank you for letting us be part of your Shanghai story. Safe travels, and may your next adventure be just as delicious! Best Regards, Monster Day Tours Shanghai
As a fellow Asian traveler, this tour offered a profound depth. I appreciated the reverence for heritage, like the century-old recipes at Xinghualou, alongside the vibrant street energy. It wasn't just about taste, but about understanding the “why” behind each dish and its place in local life. The respect for food craft and history was deeply resonant. A insightful journey into the heart of Shanghai's culinary culture.
Dear Explorer, Thank you for this thoughtful review. As fellow Asian travelers, your understanding of the "why" behind each dish means the world to us. We're so glad the heritage of Xinghualou and the energy of the streets came through in a way that resonated deeply. Hope to welcome you again for more culinary discoveries. Cheers! Kind Regards, Monster Day Tours Shanghai
