Well this was a great experience. We travelled from Vienna to Bratislava for this experience. FYI, if you do this, the bus is not part of the tour company but the normal Slovakialines bus between Bratislava and Vienna. Two things to remember is, 1. Do not forget your passport! They will not allow you on the bus. This happened to another passenger. 2. Make sure you have your QR code readily available. Again, they will not allow you on without it. The bus ride is very short, about 1.5 hours. One thing to remember, again very important, is that there are two stops in Bratislava. The first is under a bridge and you should be able to see the Flag Inn Hotel nearby. THIS is the one you want. If you miss this one, you will end up at the second stop (Part of a shopping centre). You will then have to catch a taxi to get to the Flag Inn Hotel. If you read the attached instructions, it says to get off at the second bus stop. NO! Just look for the bus stop under the bridge and you will be ok! What was also not mentioned is that the group actually meets up at the front of the Flag Inn Hotel, so just be aware that is where you may have to meet up. The hotel is just across the road so no problems there. As for the tour itself, it was great. Bratislava is absolutely stunning and full of history. The tour guide we had was great and full of information so 10/10 for her. This brings me to another point to remember. The tour guide is seperate from the company you booked this experience through. Therefore, he/she is more than likely unable to help if you have any major problems with the booking company. Just something to keep in the back of your mind. After the tour, you will end up at a cafe where you have the option of having a cake and coffee or a two course lunch. We had the two course lunch. It consisted of a chicken soup with vegetables as the first course and a local dish, potato dumplings with sheep's cheese sauce. The food was excellent and we loved it. 10/10 for the quality. Another thing to keep in mind is if you don't want to take your time at the cafe, choose the cake and coffee option. If you want a more relaxed experience choose the lunch. They do take a bit of time to serve lunch. We also chose to do the beer tasting at the Beer Factory. This is a a really nice European style pub, lots of character and very comfortable. You get three beers (Pretty decent sized for samples). One was a lager, one a strong beer and one was grapefruit beer. This was very unusual and absolutely delicious. They also give you a freshly baked pretzel which goes down well with the beer. So, in conclusion, this is a really great way to experience another European country. It is definitely different to Austria (In a good way) . We really enjoyed the experience. If you keep in mind the few pointers I mentioned, I am sure you will enjoy the experience too.
many thanks for your review :)
Lunch is very poor, without Sweet and drink. Only one soup and pasta ( the cheapest dishes of the restaurant). The guide is helpful, but not join the lunch and testing.
the lunch does not include sweet and also the drink. Also as regards the menu it is not PASTA!! It is Bryndzove Halusky the most typical Slovakian dish!
Bratislava is a really cool city, and the amount of time given during day is enough to see everything. The beer was really good and had some awesome old buildings - definitely recommend
many thanks for your kind feedback. Glad to having you an client :)
Interesting and enjoyable. The only negative aspect was that my family was split up in two on the return trip. One was in seat 20 and two in 12. This was very unpleasant.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re thrilled to hear that you found the tour interesting and enjoyable—it’s always our goal to make your visit to Bratislava memorable! We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by your family being separated during the return trip. We understand how important it is to stay together, especially when traveling as a family. Your feedback highlights an area we can improve upon, and we’ll review our seating arrangements to ensure better coordination in the future. We hope this did not overshadow the overall experience and that you left with wonderful memories of Bratislava. We’d love to have the opportunity to host you again and provide an even better experience next time! Warm regards, Bratislava City Tours
You're taking a chance on this experience as you may not get the full tour as we experienced ourselves. The tour started off great until we were left for lunch. No instructions provided by the guide, in fact we were told along the tour that this was a particular restaurant that we would be eating lunch at, and told on the side while walking that the others in the tour didn't have the same package as us. We were then dropped off at a different restaurant and the tour guide was very quick to leave and didn't give any other details, even though we were supposed to be having a beer tasting along the way of this tour. I ended up having to send an email that was eventually responded to saying we were told by the tour guide where we needed to be for the beer tasting as I requested a partial refund because we only received half of the tour. We never found the place and this experience was a complete rip off for the price and what we actually received. It was great to hear about the history of Bratslavia, but for the walking tour, we should have paid about 1/4 of our entire price, even half is a stretch. Simply put, do not waste your time on this experience, as you'll be disappointed and you will not receive a partial refund!
Thank you for your feedback, though we must clarify some important details. You received the full experience as outlined in your booking, and we stayed in touch throughout the tour via WhatsApp to address any questions or needs in real time. Our guide provided clear instructions for each part of the tour, including your lunch stop and the location for the beer tasting. We ensure that our guests know exactly what to expect, and it’s our priority to deliver all elements of the tour as promised. Given that we met all aspects of the itinerary, a partial refund is not applicable in this case. We’re pleased you appreciated the historical insights about Bratislava, and we’re confident that this tour offers value for the experience and service provided.
Was a very easy tour to take from Vienna. Directions for catching the bus was very clear. Met with our walking tour guide easily but was a lot of information to try and take in being only a one hour tour. Food at lunch was good but by the time we made it to the restaurant, they had only 1 option for the main course, which was good. But would have liked to have more options. Beer tasting was good.
Thank you for sharing your review! I'm glad to hear that the tour from Vienna was easy to take and the directions were clear. It's great that you found the walking tour guide easily and enjoyed the beer tasting. I understand that fitting a lot of information into a one-hour tour can be overwhelming, and it's unfortunate that there was only one main course option available at the restaurant. I'll pass on your feedback about wanting more food options. Overall, it sounds like you had a positive experience. Thanks again for your feedback!
The tour and the city of Bratislava were both enjoyable. The location for the beer tasting has shut down, so the restaurant for lunch provided us three beers for tasting, so I guess that was ok. However, the directions for the unguided bus transportation were not clear enough. Everyone on the tour (over 12 of us) ended up stranded in Bratislava without any help from the tour company to help us find a way back to Vienna. If the company provides clearer instructions on where to meet the bus, this would be a 5 star experience.
Dear client, This tour need also some intention from the client, as the route to and from Vienna is unaccompanied. But our instruction are very clear, even there is a video, so you can see the tour prior the departure and itinerary also on vide. Kind Regards, Andrej
We thoroughly enjoyed this excursion and would recommend it. It was organised, informative and our guide was excellent!
Dear Shaun, many thanks for your kind feedback, appreciate it :)
The day tour was awesome even we came late because we go down to bus station. The driver did not announced that those will have a day tour will go down to that location. I called Viator up because we came late and they responded right away. The old town tour was lovely and Suzzana was great. Highly recommend tour once you stay in Vienna.
many thanks for your review
Our time with our guide Lucy was the highlight, don’t bother booking this tour with the added lunch. We walked past a million traditional Slovakian restaurants and heard how great they were, only to be taken to a restaurant outside of old town where we were given crumbed fried chicken pieces and chips ! We didn’t fly all the way from Australia for that, it was beyond disappointing, the waitress said she hoped it was as good as kfc ! Don’t waste the money, stick with just the tour guide then find your own lunch, we wish we knew it was going to be non traditional we would have left.
many thanks for your review. In the tour description there is no mention, the lunch is traditional. it is 2 course daily menu.
