Mývatn-søen og Goðafoss-vandfaldsudflugten fra Akureyri Port er en tur specielt designet med krydstogtskibspassagerernes behov i tankerne. Vi udforsker det populære område i en lille gruppe, og vi har tilføjet et særligt frokoststop ved Fuglemuseet i Mývatn-søen. Der vil vi have et eksklusivt besøg væk fra folkemængderne. Entré til museet og en let frokost er inkluderet i stoppet. Vi justerer afgangstiden og længden, så den passer til doktiden for hvert krydstogtskib i Akureyri Port. Returtiden er altid 1 time før skibets afgang.

Turen starter med en afgang fra Akureyri Havn, hvor vi kørte mod det storslåede Mývatn-område.
Vi stopper ved Goðafoss-vandfaldet på denne tur. Vi stopper der i 45 minutter. Det er en af de mest populære destinationer i området.
Vores første stop ved Lake Mývatn-området er de maleriske Skútustaðagígar Psuedo-kratere, dannet af eksplosioner, da den strømmende varme lava mødtes med det iskoldt vand fra søen
Vi kommer til den varme underjordiske flod i Grjótagjá Rift, hvor du vil stå på den kontinentale kløft mellem Europa og Amerika
Det sidste stop ved Mývatn er det geotermiske område af Hverir, med kogende mudderbassiner, dampende fumaroler og svovlgrober. Forskellige fotostop føjes til turen afhængigt af vejret.
Vi fortsætter til Dimmuborgir Lava Fields, fuld af lavasøjler og formationer, der er rige på mytiske sagaer og uklare stier
Vi stopper ved det vidunderlige Mývatn Fuglemuseum. Entré er inkluderet. Vi skifter til en let frokost eller kaffe på dette stop. De store busser kan ikke komme hertil, da det er et lille sted, og man kommer væk fra de store menneskemængder.

Inga was a fabulous guide.. she was knowledgeable about everything Akureyri and beyond. She was very personable and beautiful. Excellent driver too.. when we return, we will request her 100%. I’ve seen waterfalls before, but this one blew my mind…

Julius was our fantastic guide for the day. He gave us the history of the area, local folklore and patiently answered our questions. He was a considerate driver and knowledgeable guide and we were sorry when the tour ended.

Our guide was knowledgeable and shared interesting stories throughout the tour. The reason for the three-star rating is that she skipped Grjótagjá Cave, the underground river, and the rift. Those were highlights we were looking forward to, and since we returned to the port early, it didn’t seem necessary to skip them.

Excellent tour around the lake. I loved standing with one foot on the North American tetonic plate and another foot on the European tetonic plate.
My wife and I had a fun filled adventure culminating with the great Goðafoss Waterfall! Our tour guide/ driver Julie was terrific! We recommend this tour!!
We had an outstanding day exploring North Iceland with Maria as our guide. She was warm, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable, bringing every stop to life with fascinating stories about Iceland’s history, geology, and culture. Maria’s passion for her country is contagious, and she made sure everyone felt welcome and had a great experience throughout the day. She was organized, personable, and happy to answer every question. The guide was able to adjust times to accommodate the group’s desires and schedule. We always were ahead of the cruise ship busses to avoid the crowds.
Great use of time! We were in for the day on a cruise and I feel like this itinerary was perfect. The bird museum was surprisingly delightful. It was worth the extra money to have a smaller group. Our guide Peter shared a lot of nice info and kept us moving.
We loved this tour! We had done this exact tour 8 years ago with Saga and booked again. Julien our guide made the day along with all the beautiful sights- Goðafoss Waterfall, Lake Mývatn ,and Geothermals and Lava fields. Julien ket us entertained and provided a wealth of knowledge. It was also a wonderful experience to have lunch locally at Mývatn Nature and Heritage museum.
