Vi starter denne tur ved at køre 25 km sydøst for Siem Reap byen til Kampong Phluk. Selvom det er kendt som en flydende landsby, er det ikke strengt ture. Husene her flyder ikke i stedet, de sidder oven på høje stilter. Der er omkring 700 familier, der bor her, og de er 100% etniske Khmer. De lever ved at fiske og opdrætte det lokale område. Langs vejen stopper vi ved en smuk lokalby for at se rismarkens marker med køer og bøfler. De fleste af husene på Kampong Phluk er på land, bygget på toppen af 8m stilts for at beskytte dem mod oversvømmelse i monsonsæsonen, når vandet stiger. De er lavet af en særlig type træ, som er holdbar i både tørt og vådt vejr. Hovedbygningerne er lavet af træ, palme blade og med tin tag. Du kan se flydende fiskebedrifter, en krokodille gård, hus butikker og mobile båd butikker også. Der er også et oversvømmet skovområde at besøge.
Vi tager derefter tilbage til Siem Reap by og går til Wat Thmey-pagoden. Her er stedet for Siem Reap Killing-markerne. Du kan lære om det brutale Khmer Rouge-regime ledet af den berygtede Pol Pot. Vores rejseguide vil dele historien om sig selv, hans familie og venner, der skete under folkedrabet.
Vi vil også besøge Siem Reap City for at besøge krigsmuseet, som viser nogle af de militære køretøjer og våben, der blev brugt under den lange og blodige borgerkrig. Vores rejseleder vil dele sin livserfaring under denne krig.

Nice and just right day. Good restaurant. The market and the floating village are nice areas where you get to experience an authentic Cambodia.

This is my second time to Kampong Phluk but the perspective is completely different. The last time I was here was when the water covered the staircase to the house and this time we were able to walk on land. Walking throuh the "floating village" brought us closer to the people. Our guide Peter (Piset) was amazing. He is extremely knowledgable and shared great stories and history at each of the sites. I learned alot about Cambodia's history from 12th century all the way to more recent time. Peter is a living history book!

We decided to go on this trip and booked just 2 days before leaving for Cambodia. But it turned out to be the main highlight of our trip to Cambodia. Gent, our guide was excellent. He explained to us in detail the history, culture and way of life in Cambodia. He was very well informed and made our trip a super hit. This is a trip for anyone who wants to know, understand Cambodia and not just go sightseeing. Will definitely recommend this trip. The floating village was nice but we enjoyed the visit to the war museum and the killing fields.

We took a full day tour with Angkor Doors with tour guide Bunppeng. We took the boat ride to the floating village, visited the War Museum, the Angkor National Museum, and the Wat Thmey Killing Fields. The sites were all certainly worth the visit and we learned so much about Siem Reap beyond just the temples at Angkor Wat. The service provided by our guide was top-notch. Bunppeng not only provided us with a wealth of information about the sites we were visiting, but also shared much of his own background and family experiences living in and around Siem Reap during the turbulent years since 1975. We were grateful for all he shared with us and for his willingness to answer all our questions. If you're in Siem Reap for a few days and have done the Angkor Wat visit, this tour is a very good add-on that lets you see a lot of things all in one day, but still at a reasonable pace and for a reasonable price. Our family highly recommends this tour. And if you happen to get Bunppeng as your tour guide, then it will be even better.
