Klias Wildlife Safari River Cruise fra Kota Kinabalu

Journey through the jungle of Borneo. Nice experience. Zero mosquitoes, problem we had before we left. Definitely worth trying. The food was good

We took the kilas river cruise to see the probiscus monkeys and fireflies. It was one of the highlights if our trip to Malaysia! It was a long drive (I would suggest bringing a sweater and snacks/water for the ride) but worth it. We saw over 30 monkeys of multiple species as well as many birds and a giant monitor lizard. Our guide was very nice and helpful, and the food was good even for people with dietary restrictions or allergies. The fireflies were so incredible, and the perfect end to the day!

Visited during Raya 2019. Worth the looooooooooooong journey there. It was super jam as it was a public holiday. Booked the tour via Klook. The boatman was very good at spotting proboscis monkeys even at a distance! He would drive the boat slowly towards the riverbank for us to get a closer look. Don't expect too much for the buffet dinner as it was very basic but ok. Then if was off to hunt for fireflies! Sadly, it was cut short as it started raining. Lucky we managed to spot a few trees with them. So magical!

We were picked up at 1.30 by Walter our excellent guide and proceeded on a 2hr drive to the river. We then cruised and saw various monkeys and birds followed by a lovely dinner. We then went out again after dark to see the amazing fireflies and then a 2hr drive back. Loved it all and would recommend

River cruising & Firefly tour: Book an English tour for RM190 per adult. If you apply directly at o.i.b., it seems to cost about 150RM, but I wanted to use Japanese LINE for questions, so I think it is a little expensive via NIKIBIX tour. If you have trouble, such as a guide coming to pick you up, you can contact us in Japanese. Still, I enjoyed it for about half the price of the Japanese tour! Our local guide and driver picked us up at the hotel around 13:40 as planned. There were two people on board, one from Taiwan and one from South Africa. After the tour, we were asked to drop off at the airport for 4 people, so we loaded 3 suitcases and other luggage. It was a small van, so the luggage was barely there. I wouldn't have had another large suitcase... Drive 1.5-2 hours from Kota Kinabalu city centre, next to Borneo railway tracks, towards Brunei. The road was bad and the suspension of the car was bad, and it shook so much that I jumped many times in the company. It was a rough ride that I flew quite a bit, so I thought there might be traffic accidents from time to time. I thought so. I was going to sleep in the back and forth car, but the vibrations were so bad that I ended up not sleeping ... I think it's hard for people who get carsick. The line took a bathroom break at the drive-in once along the way. 0.30RM per person when using the toilet. From there, it takes about 20 minutes to reach the Clear River Cruise Point. Take a break with potato and banana tempura (which was crisp and delicious), shiruko, coffee and tea. After the break, it was time for a 1.5 hour river cruise. I heard there were crocodiles and buffaloes, but I couldn't see them that day. I was able to see the Tengu monkey that I was most looking forward to. (It was hard to see it, behind the leaves and branches. I could clearly see the nose of the feature in the silhouette when jumping!) I was able to see a lot of crab-eating monkeys because they were so numerous. After sunset, we went back and had dinner (curry, it was delicious), and finally we had fireflies. It was like Christmas tree illuminations and it was inspiring. It was a very satisfying tour, with a nice weather and a sunset and starry sky. On the way back, we flew more than we had to and arrived at the airport 40 minutes ahead of schedule ... It was quite a hard ride, but I was right to participate in a river cruise in the wilderness. When it rains, you can't see the fireflies because you're so far away ... which is unfortunate.

We were looking forward to what was promised a nice drive through the countryside to Klias wetlands. The tour costs us about $65 per person. After enduring a 2.5 hour rather cramped drive in a 12 seater Minivan, on a somewhat below average road at times over numerous potholes we arrived at out destination. We were served afternoon tea made up of coffee, banana fritters, noodles and black coffee in plastic cups. After afternoon tea we proceeded with the river cruise to observe some proboscis monkeys which lasted about 1 hour before we came back to land for dinner. Buffet dinner was made up of rice, chicken curry, fried fish, a green vegetable dish, water melon and whatever was left of the banana fritters. Black coffee (they ran out of tin milk which was not replaced) and sugary syrup were made available. After dinner we went to observe some fireflies for about half hour before starting on our 2.5 hour drive back to our hotel. The excursion was just acceptable and not something to write home about.

This was a pickup at The Hotel and a 2-3 hour bus transfer to the river. One river Cruise with sunset and then din er buffé. Another night ride before going back. Chance to see some monkeys and birds etc. The pick up went Great. Small group about 20 People from 4-5 diffrent hotels. But then The bus broke down halfway from the river extract point. After 30-45 min the guide manage to fix 2 private persons with cars to take us the remaining ride. Very Nice work from our guide Assia. 👍. Also a rescuebus were 10 min away. Late to the boat we got alittle shorter first river time. But we saw 2 diffrent kind of monkeys, some birds, a crocodile 👍 (better be Quick if you want to take a photo), lots of bats. Then the Rain came down,Wow. 😄 Nature rules. We got back to dinner break with lots of food. Buffé, some Good, some not so Good. Its up to you. After The dinner we went out on the second trip on the river. A shorter trip just to see the fireflys. One firefly got freindly with us in the boat and flew in under the shirt. 😘. Pros: Nice guide, freindly People, we saw all the main animals as we hoped. Cons: 4-5 hours bus trip, but hey Its Borneo not a amusment park. The river is damaged by mankind, but isnt all nature? 😢 Headsup:Bring raincoat and put it on before the rain. 😅 Some drinks and snacks for the bus trip. Afterall it was a Nice trip even though some People got angry because the bus incident. But sometimes things happens and the guide/company did their best to fix it. 👍
