This review is for the 6‑day Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route. I’ve completed other high‑altitude treks (including Machu Picchu), so this perspective comes from someone who is not a first‑timer. 1. Booking & Pre‑Trip Preparation — A Truly Well‑Oiled Machine Our travel specialist, Rita, supported our group of five and exceeded every expectation. She customized our itinerary perfectly, arranged rest days, selected excellent hotels, and ensured every transfer happened on time. She even helped speed up our visa approvals. Her communication was fast, detailed, and consistent across time zones — it felt like she never slept! 2. Gear, Rentals & Camp Comfort — Top‑Notch, Clean, and Thoughtful The Altezza team visited our hotel the day before the climb for a full equipment check. They reviewed every single item to ensure we were properly prepared for all six days. Thanks to their detailed checklist (provided weeks ahead), we didn’t need to rent anything additional. The gear we did use — tents, sleeping bags, and private portable toilets — was excellent and perfectly maintained. Each of us received a personalized mug for the trek, a nice touch we used throughout. At every camp, our tents were already set up, hot water was waiting, and the dining tent was ready. Each night we received sleeping‑bag warmers, and each morning began with coffee or tea delivered directly to our tents. These thoughtful touches made a real difference. 3. Safety & Medical Oversight — Consistent and Reassuring Altezza conducts two daily medical checks, morning and evening. They monitored our oxygen saturation, heart rate, and overall symptoms, and paired this with conservative pacing and helpful nightly briefings. Their structure and professionalism made us feel safe throughout the climb. 4. The Crew — Expert, Hard‑Working, and Always Upbeat Our crew was absolutely fantastic. They carried everything — and always with a smile. They checked on us constantly, refilled hydration packs, carried daypacks when needed, and moved our gear seamlessly between tents and the common area. They also brought incredible positive energy: smiling, singing, encouraging us on the toughest sections. On summit night, several crew members even carried extra water for us. The tea breaks on the trail were a wonderful touch and often felt like a VIP moment. 5. Food & Hydration — Plenty of It, Always Hot and Customizable Meals were consistently excellent: hot, plentiful, and easily customized. The chef regularly checked if we needed adjustments. And the surprise tea/snack stations along the trail were a highlight. There was always more food than we could finish. 6. Summit Success — A Structured Path to the Top The 6‑day Lemosho is a demanding itinerary with limited acclimatization time, but all five of us summited — ages ranging from 32 to 56 — and none of us experienced altitude sickness. The pacing was appropriate, especially the “pole pole” rhythm when it mattered most. Where There’s Room for Improvement My only critique relates to pacing and break management. Although the guides encouraged us to speak up, it was sometimes difficult to get additional breaks once on the trail. They also tended to underestimate remaining distance, elevation gain, or time — meant to motivate us, but occasionally counterproductive. When you fuel for “6 miles left” and learn there are actually eight, it can be frustrating. These issues were minor overall but enough to cost one star. Importantly, the guides still got us all to the summit safely — and that is what matters most. Bottom Line If you want a safety‑first, comfort‑focused Kilimanjaro climb with outstanding logistics and a deeply supportive crew, Altezza Travel is an excellent choice. Yes, it’s a premium‑priced operator — but the peace of mind, professionalism, equipment quality, and exceptional crew make it absolutely worth it, especially for first‑time climbers or mixed‑experience groups.

It was truly one of the best experiences of my life, and that was largely thanks to the incredible team and our two amazing guides. From the very beginning they made such a big effort to make everyone feel comfortable, safe, and cared for. The atmosphere was so special ❤️ really felt like we were one big family. I had never climbed a mountain or even gone on a real hike before, but I felt supported and well looked after every step of the way. That meant a lot to me. And I also have to mention the food I had read in other reviews that the food was amazing, but it was honestly even better than I expected. Really delicious 👏🏼 One of my personal highlights was getting tea delivered to my tent every morning. It’s these small details and the thoughtfulness of the team that made the experience so special. I’m honestly not an outdoor person normally, but thanks to this amazing team I might have become one. I will absolutely recommend this experience to all of my friends.

The whole experience definitely exceeded my expectations by far. Our two guides Elia and Goodluck did such an amazing job. They became our Kakas (brothers). - Elia and I connected from the first minute, when he picked us up in the hotel lobby; I was really struggling on the way up; if it was not for him, I would not have made it up to the summit. He was there for me, physically and emotionally and when we reached Uhuru peak and touched the sign together, I felt overwhelmed - Goodluck always had a smile on his face, he was always positive and open for a good laugh; he helped me down today and made sure that I was well throughout The whole crew was absolutely fantastic. Peter the chef, Kenja as our waiter, Besti who always made sure that we had a very clean toilet, Frank, who joined as a third guide on summit day, Viktor as our campmaster, who made sure we had great conditions to rest and eat and all the others who took such good care of us. One of the many camp highlights was dancing to one of our party songs „Macarena“ in one of the camps. I have fallen in love with the Tanzanian people and I will surely be back. All in all a 10/10 experience. Everything was perfectly organised, and everyone in the team (really everyone) was fantastic. They are all so nice, experienced, do anything to get you to the summit, and most importantly with lots of joy and a smile. What a great adventure.

His depth of understanding made the trek feel like an education as much as an adventure. Goodluck is the ultimate spirit lifter and a constant 'happy soul.' When the hikes got 'brutal,' his incredible energy kept us going. Between sharing marathon stories and mountain legends, he turned the toughest miles into fun conversations, ensuring morale remained high. Life at Camp: Above and Beyond Abdul aziz (The Chef) defied high-altitude conditions to create 'mountain gourmet' meals. We still can’t believe the quality, from surprises like fresh pizza to crispy French fries! Keeping your energy up is key to a successful summit, and his cooking made that easy. Kessy (The Camp Master) is a wizard of logistics. Every time we rolled into camp, everything was perfect, demonstrating meticulous organization from the moment we arrived. From expertly managing the campsite to the incredibly thoughtful gesture of wiping down our shoes, he ensured we were comfortable and ready for the next day. To the entire Altezza team: thank you for helping us stand on the Roof of Africa. You didn't just guide us; you took care of us like your own. If you are looking for a team that combines professional expertise with genuine heart, look no further. Hakuna Matata!"

The Altezza team did everything possible to maximize our chances of reaching the summit of Kilimanjaro and do it in the greatest comfort possible despite the rain, hail and snow. A team of 62 porters and guides accompanied our group of 13 hikers. Their good mood was contagious. The food was excellent. For lunch and dinner, there was always a hot soup waiting for us. During the hike, we were allowed hot tea and some snacks to give us energy. I highly recommend taking the private toilet service. This is a small tent in which you have a toilet that can be shared with up to 3 people in your group. Public toilets are not very clean and foul. In addition, they may be far from your campsite. Since Diamox (could treat altitude sickness) makes you urinate more, you will appreciate its proximity. I'm not suggesting a portable shower. It is really cold in the morning and evening at the camp so we had no taste. In addition, they offer a bowl of water with soap to make her groom. Bring yourself a washcloth. Bring electrolyte bags to add to your water that will allow you to better acclimate. The 13 hikers we were all able to reach the summit thanks to the help of the team of porters who even offer to carry our bag or water if the climb is too difficult. The logistics of Altezza are impressive. Even after 3 days, you can still order clothes for rent from the shop (with a fee). We would take Altezza back for a future trip and highly recommend it.
