Kew Gardens Entrance Billet

Lovely afternoon in the gardens and palm house. Very good value after 4pm. No crowds at all. Great for photographs.

We visited Kew for my wife’s birthday as it was on her ‘bucket list’. We booked in advance. The day was splendid. Sadly, the lack of rain for some weeks meant that the grass in the park was yellow, the rose garden looked tired and the soil, in places, almost powdery, but that did not detract at all. The Palm House parterre had particularly beautiful flower displays, and the various greenhouses that we visited – the Palm House, Temperate House and the vast Princess of Wales conservatory – were particularly interesting and contained a huge range of plants, most of which we were seeing for the first time. Information boards were helpful. We also much enjoyed time in the evolution garden and the vegetable growing areas, including that worked by the students. The site is huge; even so, it was a calm and relaxing day, the gardens were not overcrowded, the cafes provided good coffee, tea and cake, and the sheer number and variety of plants across the site was remarkable. We also very much enjoyed visiting Kew Palace and the royal kitchens – an unexpected and free extra and looking at the Henry Moore statues and small temples scattered around the park. Despite being there all day, we still were unable to see everything, and time prevented us going on the treetop experience. We will certainly return.

Fabulous first visit, amazing collection, beautiful presentation of global botanical treasures. Despite the hard summer it was well worth a visit and to learn more. Busy but well managed it was a relaxing and engaging day. Too much to take in for one day we selected and managed to see our preferred places including the wonderful palm and temperate houses, several specialist gardens, the redwoods, the giant pagoda, follies, much of-the Henry Moore collection. We took the guided land train and it was well worth it. Followed by afternoon tea at the excellent Botanical. All round fabulous visit. Can’t wait to return

We booked our visit to Kew Gardens in advance, and unfortunately we happened to go on one of the hottest days of the year, when temperatures reached around 38 degrees. Because of the extreme heat and dry weather, the park was looking quite yellow in many areas. Obviously, this is not something the gardens can control, and it did not take away from the overall experience. I really liked Kew Gardens, not only because it is beautiful, but also because there are so many different areas to explore. The greenhouses were particularly enjoyable, as the temperature is controlled inside, making them a much more comfortable place to walk around on a very hot day. There are also some really interesting places within the gardens, including the Orangery, where you can stop for some food, and the Hive, which is a particularly impressive structure and a great place to spend some time. What really surprised me is the sheer variety and number of plants throughout the gardens. Everything is extremely well maintained, and there is always something interesting to discover as you walk around. It is quite extraordinary to have a place like this in London, especially considering how large and diverse the gardens are. I can definitely see Kew Gardens being a place worth visiting more than once. Depending on the season, the experience can be completely different, and there is so much to see that it would be difficult to take everything in during a single visit. Overall, I really enjoyed it. If you are interested in botany, nature and gardens, it is definitely a place to visit. Even if you are not particularly interested in plants, it offers a relaxing and very different experience from the usual London attractions. Kew Gardens is definitely somewhere I would recommend visiting while in London.

Indoor areas excellent We felt there should have been a route guide Eg follow yellow arrows or lines for one route - red for another Also a few stands selling snacks or food on your walk ( as there is at Christmas ) would have enhanced our experience Overall my overseas visitor and I enjoyed ourselves

My husband and I spent 3 hours here exploring the greenhouse, conservancy and the lovely Kew Palace. We were seriously impressed with the selection of plants and trees, particularly the giant Lilly pads in the Princess of Wales Conservatory. It was the hottest day of the year, so managed to see everything we wanted too, but knew that we hadn’t been able to fit it all in. The staff in the palace were particularly lovely and very knowledgeable. We had a lovely time here at Kew!

Family trip to London for mums 80th birthday Hampton Court, Kew and Westminster We entered by the main gate and directed to our booth to pay, the attendant was polite enough but had difficulty in hearing us due to her air conditioning blowing into the microphone, mums in a wheelchair so we got a small discount which was swallowed up by the 10% donation and gift aid we did ( willingly ) we were then given our map and and told we would have to walk in between the 6 stops the train would have taken us to as it wasn’t working due to the excessive heat - we were then told some of the attractions were closed for refurbishment and one closed for a wedding, we then asked about the herbarium and told it was invite only If we had been informed before we paid we would not have gone in as pushing a wheelchair in 38” heat is not got the faint hearted We then proceeded to the beautiful Victorian glass house housing very few trees and plants as they were being moved in preparation for more refurbishment, Due to the excessive heat and lack of water the outside plants and grass had mostly died with the exception of flower beds in prominent places All in all I think we should of been told and Im sure it is a wonderful place to visit when we are not in drought and they are not refurbing The Thomas Moore collection was lovely to see

Bring a water bottle. There are water refill spots around the park. Avoid buying the overpriced water cans there

For the price, Kew Gardens felt worth it and you can easily spend all day there. Just like any event space, there part or activity expect high prices for things once you're in. It can be as adorable or as expensive as you want if you're prepared. I would recommend avoiding really hot days as some of the green houses are set to a hot climate for the sake of the plants.
