Magical family time x We booked more than one tour…. After trying for 6 years to bring our children to beautiful Sri Lanka, we finally made it and it was everything we'd hoped for and more. My husband and I first visited Sri Lanka 23 years ago as part of a world tour and always dreamed of returning with our children. Our first family trip was cancelled because of COVID, and then several more attempts were disrupted due to the conflict in the Middle East. When we came across Tony's Tours on Facebook, we decided to book directly, and we're so glad we did. From the very beginning, Tony and his team were incredibly patient, answering my endless questions and offering great advice when I wasn't sure which tours would suit our now-older children. Planning a trip that keeps everyone in a family of five happy isn't easy, but they really helped us put together the perfect itinerary. Because of the changing travel situation, we had to alter our plans several times, and each time they accommodated us without any fuss. Their communication was excellent throughout, and everything was explained clearly. We also arranged our airport transfers through them. As a family of five, transport is often expensive and cramped, but the vehicle was spacious, comfortable, and very reasonably priced. One of the highlights was visiting the turtle sanctuary seeing our daughter's face as she experienced something she'd dreamed of for so long was priceless. Our Kandy day tour with Silva was fantastic. We visited Pinnawala Elephants, the spice garden, Temple of the Tooth, and the botanical gardens. Unfortunately, heavy traffic meant we had to miss the tea factory. It was a long day with plenty of driving, but Silva was brilliant, making sure we stopped whenever we needed a break. The river cruise was very wet, but that only added to the adventure! The kids loved it and said they felt like they were exploring the Amazon. Silva also recommended and took us to Kuma for a massage, which was absolutely incredible and one of the most relaxing experiences of the trip. We also did the two-day tour to Yala, Ella and beyond with Tony. It was a very early start, but arriving at Yala National Park for sunrise was unforgettable. The safari was amazing and we were lucky enough to see leopards and elephants, and the kids absolutely loved riding in the jeep. Our accommodation in Ella was excellent, with the most spectacular pool and mountain views. We found the mini hike a little challenging in the heat, but the scenery made every step worthwhile. If I had one small suggestion, it would be to spend a little longer in Nuwara Eliya. We only had a brief stop, and it would have been lovely to enjoy a drink at the beautiful Grand Hotel or have a little time to browse the shops. That said, because these are private tours, I'm sure you could simply ask if there's somewhere you'd like to stop. When I wanted to buy a traditional mask, Silva happily pulled over at a shop on the way home. I honestly can't recommend Tony's Tours highly enough. They went above and beyond to help us experience the very best of this beautiful country while teaching us so much about its culture and people. If we're lucky enough to visit Sri Lanka again, we wouldn't hesitate to book with them again. Thank you, Tony, Silva, and the whole team. From our family to yours, thank you for giving us a truly magical holiday that we'll treasure forever. 🙏
