Not a good experience from the start. I booked this trip via trip advisor, however the tour operator "splendor of Morroco" had no idea about the trip. At 4PM (scheduled pick up time), I had to call them to ask about the pick up and then they asked me to send the confirmation that I received from "trip advisor" to them (strange how trip advisor manages the booking!). After sending the confirmation to the operator, they sent a very dirty mini van with 3 people already there ( they were neither customers nor guide) to pick us up while I had booked a van with no more than 4 people. Further, on the way back from the trip they clubbed us in another van with another family of 4 plus some other locals. I paid much more to make sure that the transportation was safe and private but i didnt get that, nether did I feel safe nor it was private. My tour was suppose to be in English but none of the guides spoke English. On top of it in the arrangement we were suppose to get a private tent for dinner but we didnt get that and we had to dine in a large tent with others. I find it strange that how a company like trip advisor together with Viator let this kind of operators dupe people like us. Do they do due deligence before letting these operators use viator for arranging trips? I blame trip advisor, viator and this tour operator for spoiling my experience. I expect trip advisor (viator) to return my money and also make sure that this operator is not able to advertise using their website.
We waited at the location provided by the tour guide operator, our pick up time was 16.00 and we waited from 15.45 it is now 16.45 we are still at the location waiting. We have messaged the tour operator guide numerous times via the chat feature but not a single reply. I have requested a full refund I have been told they will respond back within 7 days will feedback and update the review. There is no option for a 0 star rating which is what they are deserving off right now.
The driver is very professional. We had great time experiencing the camel ride on a sunset. And went to Agafay Desert with magical experience. With dinner, complimentary wine and fire dancing show at the end. Transportation has been arranged properly. Thank you for the excellent experience
If you're looking for a sunset dinner and camel ride close to Marrakesh this is the one to choose! The "desert" is similar to Southwest US vs. Saharra dessert. The staff was great and very accommodating and enabled a very relaxed atmosphere. The camel ride last~30 mins and was sufficient to check the box. We booked for our last night in Marrakesh based upon a 4 hr timeframe however the evening with travel lasted ~8 hrs. It was a great evening but wish we would have booked for a different night when we did not have to be up early to catch a flight.
The camel ride was nice, at sunset but surely the best part was the dinner based on tajine and other really typical dishes. Very friendly and professional staff. I recommend calling them instead of sending emails as they respond much faster. We went for my husband's birthday and everything was perfect. Unsurpassed location.
Just great! Great organization, very warm people, the best food during our time in Marrakech (even vegetarian on request) - absolute recommendation.
Really a 2 star experience but the staff and driver were very nice. Me and my girlfriend booked this group tour mainly to go on the camel trek and have a dinner with other travelers. We don’t speak any French so some of this may be a lost in translation issue but here’s how it went. We were staying at a very large hotel with busy car reception area and before our pick up time I called to make sure they knew what clothes we were wearing because I figured it would be impossible to figure out who we were for the driver. It took 20 minutes and eventually the owner showed up and we made the connection and were on our way, just 20 minutes late. We arrived and the staff was very nice offering us a place to sit and drinks. After 15 minutes I had to ask about the camel portion because it seemed like the sun was setting and one staff spoke to another and another etc. 20 minutes later we were on our way, just the 2 of us and the guide, who was extremely friendly and nice, not exactly what we were after but a good experience none the less. When we returned there were people milling about the pool and bar area, and eventually everyone started going into a large well decorated tent down some well lit stairs and next to several large fires, they said that me and my girlfriend had been upgraded to a private dining tent and we were placed by ourselves in a tent for 8. Music and performances started in the main tent and there was a bar with lots of options in the main tent but we sat looking at a dark desert by ourselves. The food was just ok which I somewhat expected being a catered event in the desert but sitting for and hour and a half listening to what sounded like a really fun party by ourselves in a blanket tent felt like 4th grade detention. Maybe some couples prefer the privacy but if we wanted that we would just order room service, it really felt like we were at the D list table at a wedding. All I can say is the staff was really nice, the group party sounded fun, but be explicit (I think French would help) that you do not want to be upgraded to be left alone.
Even two days after booking, no confirmation has been received from the organizer. Only after the call from the hotel reception was the excursion confirmed so that we will be picked up half an hour as stated. Then we had picked up the old dirty Nissan without air conditioning and with the windows open drove unnecessarily through Marrakech for apparently personal tasks. No one spoke English or German. We weren't told anything. We were the only participants. The two Camelle didn't want to walk uphill, were more drawn, mine even tripped badly. Arriving for camping we were accepted by a comedian, loud, inappropriate, with invitation to photograph.. For the romance, a light bulb was hung in the tent and we were asked if we wanted a campfire. Firewood was not prepared, so on the fly a good chair was burned and some wooden supports for the Bedouin tents. Then the comedian drummed on a control tray for 30 seconds... We waited a long time for the food, but it was freshly cooked and good. Still at dessert, fruit, we were asked by the driver to go to the car. There was no coffee. Up to 120 km per hour we drove through the desert and the city back to the hotel.. Magically, that wasn't at all, very disappointing. Just delivery. At a maximum of 40 euros we would have swallowed this, but at a proud price of 80 euros per person we expected a completely different, magical experience with top Service. It's not worth the money!
It was a wonderful experience highly recommended to anyone visiting. We were unlucky to go on a cloudy day so unfortunately did not get to enjoy sunset or starry sky views but despite that we had amazing time. The camel ride was fun and you had enough time to enjoy that you are actually in the middle of the desert. Once we got to the camp we were impressed with level of service and the charming set up of the tents. Also - best tajin we had during 5 days in Morocco!
Fantastic highly recommended experience! Sadly the sky was very cloudy when we had our dinner so we didn't get the chance to enjoy sunset nor starry sky but regardless of that we absolutely loved it! The camel ride was a lot of fun and you had time to really enjoy that you are in the middle of the desert. Once we got to the camp both the charming set up of the tents as well as level of service were really impressive. Also - best tajin we had during 5 days in Morocco!
