Mød den store Buddha af Kamakura. Et must-see på din sightseeing tur af Kamakura er den store Buddha af Kamakura på Kotoku-in Temple. Det har været indhyllet på grund af Kamakura i over 750 år, og er den eneste nationale skat i Kamakura udpeget som en buddhistisk statue
Tjek Hasedera Temple, med sin smukke naturskønne udsigt over kysten og skjult lille hule. Det siges at være grundlagt i 736 under Nara perioden, og det er en af Kamakuras ældste templer, efter at have været udpeget som et tempel for kejserlige bønner under kejser Shomu's styre. Ken was very knowledgeable and gave good context and history on each of the individual shrines we visited. He also explained the differences in the shrines versus the Buddhist temples... in this case the Kotoku-in ( great buddha ) temple in the center of Kamakura. He also treated us to some Japanese snacks, including Macha soft serve and various snacks including dongo ( skewered mochi with sweet teriyaki ).

Me and my two kids (in their 20s) took the tour of Kamakura with Ken today. It was fantastic! We saw so many shrines and temples, and Ken provided lots of information that helped us understand what we were looking at. Highly recommend!
