This tour honestly meant so much to me. It didn’t feel like a typical excursion. We learned so much about cocoa production and the chocolate making process, but also about nature conservation, herbal remedies, and the deeper connection to the land. Getting to try the most delicious hot chocolate and authentic Dominican snacks made it even more special but what really stood out was sharing a meal with locals. The food was easily one of the best meals we’ve ever had, and the warmth and kindness from everyone we met made the experience feel so genuine and welcoming. Milton, our tour guide, was amazing!! You can tell he truly cares, he made sure we understood everything in a meaningful way and really immersed us in the culture. I’m incredibly grateful for this day. It’s something I’ll always remember, and I will definitely be recommending it. I already know I’ll be back🤍
Thank you so much for this beautiful and thoughtful review. It truly means a lot to us to know that your experience felt more than just a typical excursion — that is exactly what we aim to create with every tour. We’re especially happy you enjoyed learning about cocoa, Dominican culture, and sharing authentic moments with local people. Those are the experiences that make Puerto Plata so special. We’ll make sure to share your kind words with Milton — he will be very grateful and proud to know he made such an impact on your day. Thank you again for choosing Atlantic Tours. We would love to welcome you back anytime for another authentic experience in Puerto Plata.
I travelled to Puerto Natales in the Chilean Patagonia, to visit Fabulous Torres Del Paine National Park a short distance away. During my stay I frequented a great restaurant named JAU Natales. It's a native name from the Kawescar native tribe
Absolutely recommend this tour. It does take time to get to the farm but worth the travel. Great hearing the family story, learning the organic and natural way of growing plants and tasting the raw cocoa.
Your feedback is greatly appreciated, and we hope to welcome you back for more memorable experiences in the future! We're delighted to hear that you found the tour worthwhile despite the travel time to the farm. Thank you for your recommendation!
This was a very unique visit to an organic cacao plantation. The third-generation owner was very friendly and provided a great experience. Our driver and tour guide was over an hour late, but made up for it by staying an hour longer. We were traveling with kids and the delay pushed lunch back about 3 hours, which made for some grumpy guests. If you book this tour, be patient and bring snacks. Well worth the time.
Thank you for your feedback!! We apologize for the delay in our driver and tour guide's arrival, which caused inconvenience during your visit to the organic cacao plantation. We understand the importance of punctuality, especially when traveling with children. We're glad to hear that our team made up for the delay by extending the tour and providing an unforgettable experience. Your suggestion to bring snacks is duly noted, and we will strive to ensure smoother logistics for future tours. We appreciate your understanding and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back for another enjoyable visit.
We had a wonderful trip to Hacienda Cufa. The historical story of Puerto Plata province taught by the guide and opportunity to ask questions was superb. Walking through the jungle to see the chocolate plants was amazing and other plants were identified and talked about. We made, ate and even had a facial made of chocolate. We considered this an exceptional opportunity to experience the authentic Dominican Republic! Excellent trip overall. Karen, Kathie, Kristi and Dee
Hi Karen, Kathie, Kristi, and Dee, So glad to hear you had an amazing trip to the Hacienda! The historical insights, jungle walk to see chocolate plants, and the chocolate experiences sound fantastic. It's wonderful that you considered it an exceptional opportunity to experience the authentic Dominican Republic. Wishing you more fantastic Tours ahead! Best,
This tour was not as described . Not private, no chocolate facial, no make your own chocolate, very little English spoken, no commentary or historical guiding, seatbelts not working in car. Thank goodness one of our party spoke Spanish. Most concerning of all was that the driver drank the wine samples at the chocolate place quite liberally. Save money and time and tour other chocolate factories for free that are in Puerto Plata (Del Oro etc).
We sincerely apologize for the disappointing experience you had during our Tour. We understand your concerns about privacy, missing activities, language barriers, safety, and the driver's behavior. JUST FOR THE RECORD: IT WAS ADVISED THAT DUE TO THE PREVAILING CONDITIONS CAUSED BY PREVIOUS RAINS AT THE RANCH, THE FACIAL EXPERIENCE AND CHOCOLATE MAKING ACTIVITIES MAY NOT BE FEASIBLE, THEY WERE ACCEPTED. We take your feedback seriously and will investigate and address each issue to improve our services. We appreciate your insights and hope you'll consider giving us another chance to provide the exceptional experience we aim for. Your concerns regarding the lack of privacy, missing chocolate facial, and the absence of make-your-own chocolate opportunities are genuinely noted. We understand the importance of effective communication and historical guidance during tours, and we regret that this was not adequately provided during your visit. We take safety very seriously, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused by the malfunctioning seatbelts. Rest assured, we will address this issue promptly to ensure the safety of our future guests. Regarding the language barrier, we acknowledge the importance of providing tours in multiple languages to cater to diverse audiences. We will take steps to improve our English language support to enhance the overall experience for our international guests. Thank you for bringing these issues to our attention.
Unfortunately due to weather, we were unable to visit Hacienda Cufa. Instead, the tour took us to Chocolala. This was a lovely farm with a short tour and some nice photo opportunities. I also bought a few local artisan chocolates. I did feel disappointed to not get to experience making chocolate myself or getting the fuller experience of harvesting and learning about the hacienda or having the typical lunch on the farm. Nor did we get the chocolate facial. Hopefully next time we will be able to have the experience! The city tour after was nice though and we had a lot of flexibility with the private cab and very nice local tour guide Hector. It was a nice day for my 7 year old daughter and I but not what we had originally planned for.
Thank you for reaching out to us and sharing your experience. We sincerely apologize that your Tour was affected by unexpected weather conditions, and we understand how disappointing it must have been not to fully enjoy the experience. We strive to provide exceptional service, and we deeply regret that we fell short of your expectations this time. Weather can be unpredictable, and despite our best efforts to ensure a seamless experience, there are instances beyond our control. Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience caused, and we appreciate your understanding. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back for another Tour under better conditions in the future. Warm regards,

Authentic!!! Got to meet a man who works his land, making cocoa to sell to neighbors. Hung out in his palapa; walked around his property. So cool!
