Beskrivelse

The whole coffee story

We walked around the coffee plantation while our local guide explained how the coffee plants were cultivated and protected without using pesticides. He also told us about the economic importance of this crop for the village and the region, historically and presently. As experienced hardcore coffee drinkers we had never seen a coffee plant up close...The next step was the processing of the beans and the different types of roasting. The comparative tasting made the whole explanation even more memorable.

Great Experience!

Had a great tour through the village and learnt about the local community! Then we saw the agricultural fields and the coffee plantation. We also learnt a lot about how a cup of coffee is produced. Richard, our guide, explained everything very well and was very communicative.

Awesome experience

Overall - this was fantastic. Our guide Samuel was wonderful. He took us through his hillside village of 7000 people. He showed us butcher shops, several churches, stores, the courthouse, his home, gardens, family. He was very knowledgable and tried very hard to teach us about his culture, way of life, etc. We walked about 4.2 miles. Easy walk. Special lunch and coffee making factory tour. Very glad we did this. Fun, educational, good exercise. 😀😀

A lucky find.

The guide, Samuel, showed us the reality of coffee farming (as well as other small-scale farming) on an excellent walking tour through the area (including a village) around the coffee farms and roastery. I can't recommend this tour highly enough. This was a nearly perfect length (five or six hours including lunch) on our second day in Arusha (and Tanzania). He's articulate, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and energetic. Give this one a try; you won't regret it.

Coffee farming 101

We started with a tour of a Lutheran church built in the 1800's by Germans. It was simple and functional and interesting and beautiful. The walk from the church to the coffee farm was somewhat uphill on a dirt lane. Be prepared if it's a hot, dry day. The coffee farmer took us around his farm and educated us on every step involved in coffee farming. We hiked down a path through trees that was uneven. Well worth it but be prepared for a hike. We passed several villagers' homes to arrive at a beautiful home of a Scandinavian woman and her African husband where we were served a family-style lunch of delicious local dishes. It was way more than any of us could eat. We were able to buy coffee and handmade items. It was a great way to learn and see the local culture.

Creative way to learn about coffee plantation in Arusha

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Dickson our guide was very thorough in his explanation and descriptions. We had a long walk through the village and had a beautiful lunch at the end. We met the farmer who walked us through his plantation and explained how they farmer without using chemicals. Very impressive.

Village life and coffee

Walk through the village and visiting a smal scale coffee farm was a very good cultural experience. Interaction with local children during the walk, insight view of local life. The tour ends with delicous lunch, coffee tasting and the option to buy fair-trade coffee. Great to activity to start a tour in Tanzania.

Relaxed tour to learn more about Tanzanian coffee history

It was a pleasant surprise, we were staying in the 2Mountains Lodge without knowing very well what to visit and suggested the Quinta do café. It is 2 to 3 hours to walk through the region and to know all the processes of coffee production, from planting to packaging. At the end there is a house where we can buy some souvenirs and taste some of the types of coffee. The guide Samuel was very attentive, all in a very relaxed and friendly Mood.

Incredible cultural experience!!!

We loved the coffee walk, especially our wonderful guide Samwel! It was a lovely experience - interesting, educational and fun! Samwel was an amazing host, spending time taking us through the village, explaining some local customs, touring the farm and coffee factory. We enjoyed a delicious lunch and the company and conversation were fantastic. (Covid update - Samwel is vaccinated and wore a mask the entire car ride so we all felt very safe)
