Johnny's Prague Photography Tour

This was a great session. Jan is patient and gave lots of great tips on how to capture some of Prague's most iconic vistas. He tailored the experience based on our skill levels and was great at sussing out opportunities for tour participants with very, different gear.

My wife and I recently had a private tour Jan. Due to vacation plans we chose a morning tour. Jan was very efficient in responding to questions prior to the tour and provided detailed information for the tour. I had a user error in using the information but Jan was very kind in walking us through that. The tour was excellent. We made five to six locations and Jan offered great insight and guidance to assure we had the best opportunity for images. While on the tour the light over the Charles Bridge blew up and Jan immediately knew of a location for fantastic views which did not include any other photographers. A really cool experience. Jan is obviously a skilled photographer. A quick review of his gallery illustrates that point. However, he is an even better person. Quick wit, and friendly, Jan was a pleasure throughout the tour. He provided local knowledge as well as superb photography tips and insights. If you're in Prague, Jan offers great photography in Prague. Highly recommend this tour!

I selected a 3‑hour photography tour with Johnny and it exceeded all expectations. Despite my injured knee, Johnny was incredibly thoughtful and adjusted the pace and route so I could still cover a surprising amount of ground. His knowledge of photography is exceptional — he doesn’t just point out locations, he teaches you how to see them. He encourages you to think about how you compose a shot, what settings will work best, and why. I finished the tour with photos I’m genuinely proud of, and I even returned to some of the same spots the next night when the light was better and captured even more stunning images of Prague. I could have spent three full days with Johnny and still not uncovered all the magic this city holds. A brilliant experience for any photographer.

I visited Prague for the first time and took a 1:1 photo walking tour with Johnny/Jan. It was a blast and I really enjoyed it. He is very patient and gave practical tips. He poses simple questions to make a person think and that will likely make me remember things. He also gave a few exercises that are also useful. He asked me about my level and skills so that he could customize and was well-prepared about the walking route and where to go. Clearly he has done this several times before because he knew about good spots.

Jan is a very knowledgeable guide and knew exactly where (and when) to go to the best vantage points. He also pointed out the appropriate camera settings to guarantee the bet results for every shot. I enjoyed this trip very much since he is a very likable person as well which made this encounter a fun experience. I can wholeheartedly recommend him for everybody trying to improve on their knowledge regarding photography and the local culture.

Simply amazing! Johny is a wonderful photographer who showed me some great spots for photographing in Prague. Helped with settings, advice on composition and many other tips. I generally don’t do this type of photography but Johny open my eyes to a new world.

Jan was sooo nice and helpful. While I consider myself a very experienced photographer, he taught me more than a few things and techniques. I cannot recommend him highly enough. You will not be disappointed.

Of all the things we did in Prague, this photo tour continues to be the thing I most highly recommend to anyone visiting. Jan is a phenomenal guide and photographer, and was patient with us even as very amateur photographers. We got to see so many great spots in Prague we would have never known to visit otherwise, and to have some guidance on how to best capture the views we were seeing was super helpful. I think there is more to be gained from this tour if you have a camera (which my wife did), but even with just an iPhone, I got some really great shots and had a lot of fun. Our afternoon with Jan was the highlight of our trip, and this was worth every penny!

If you are in Prague and like photography this is the guide for you. As his bio states Jan is both guide and educator. Even someone who is an experienced photographer can learn new things. Jan knows how cameras work and his tour is not just traditional cityscape sites. Because of the variety of places visited, most people on Jan's tour will experience different types of photography all in one tour. During my tour Jan took me to the interior of a building to photograph a spiral staircase as you can see from the attached photo. We then went to a park to do some abstract photography of metal memorials located there. Near the end we concluded with classic photos of Charles bridge and Prague castle at blue hour/night. The three hour tour went by quickly as it was always interesting and new. During the tour I mentioned that I was looking to buy a new tripod, Jan said he would follow-up and provide a link to what he uses. The next day I got an email with some recommendations. Jan went above and beyond to help out his client which was very much appreciated. From Jan's guiding I have a new portfolio of outstanding photographs.
