Jambangan Bali Cooking Class

Authentic and clean cooking school with good guidance. Half a dozen local dishes prepared and worked with different cooking techniques. Worth returning to.

I stumbled on a small advertising for this cooking class just by accident... I feel it is best value in Ubud. A friendly, clean and very competent cooking class in Balinese recipes. Ngurah guides us through the local market with lovely fresh vegetables, herbs, and fruit. Ayu teaches the class in a small group within a traditional Balinese compound using clear English instruction. We were actively engaged in preparing six traditional Balinese recipes; we all believed we could take these skills and knowledge back to our own kitchens. We also received printed bound recipes of each of the dishes and a 'Certificate of Completion in Authentic Balinese Cooking'. This is genuinely sustainable tourism that has a real local impact.

This was a fantastic experience! It began with a local market tour, a stop at a coffee plantation and then to ghe beautiful family compound where the cooking class was held. We began with making an small woven offering basket with flowers and then learned how to make coconut milk and coconut oil from scratch! We then prepped and cooked Balinese, soup, curry, satay, salad and dessert! The food was incredible! We were given all the recipes to take home. This was a fantastic experience with lovely, knowledgeable, and very gracious hosts. I highly recommend!

A very nice cooking class with super friendly hosts. First, you go to the traditional market and through rice fields, and then you cook a Balinese three-course meal together with the providers. Finally, you receive the recipes as well as a certificate. Overall, a very exciting and worthwhile experience.

This class was incredible!!! The process felt so intimate and well thought out. I was happy and laughing throughout, and I felt really welcomed into the home. The food was absolutely delicious and I was really grateful to recieve the recipes so I can recreate them myself. I would highly recommend to anyone travelling solo or in a group - you won't regret it!

We had an amazing experience! We’d loved the trip to the market and we were nicely greeted at a Balinese house with a nice refreshment. We cooking class was fun and the lady guide was super sweet and helpful. It’s really nice to see this part of the culture and I’m already looking forward to cooking one of the recipes at home. Thank you for an amazing time and would recommend it to everyone!

We booked for a cooking class but got much more than this. Lots of extras on the side. On the way to the market, we got a lot of very interesting information about offering, temples and rice cultivation. The other half of our course, we made amazing Balinese dishes from scratch all done with humour. Putu was a great host and teacher. To be in his Balinese home and learning about the culture will stay forever on my great memories books.

An experience to make and redo! The meals were delicious! We cooked with a Balinese chef and his family in joy and good humor!

Just book it! My boyfriend and I attended our first cooking class in Bali and I am so happy we chose Jambangan Bali Cooking Class. We were picked up from our hotel, given a market tour in the morning! Where we learned so much about each ingredient used in the recipes.I particularly loved when we learned to make coconut oil and coconut milk from a fresh whole coconut! We spend the day learning how to cook Balinese food! And finished our day with a lovely meal and fresh dessert! Highly recommend 10/10!!!

Had a fantastic time at the market and then getting to cook the meals step by step! The staff were excellent and very knowledgeable. Delicious and would thoroughly recommend when visiting Bali!
