Merdeka-pladsen er et omdrejningspunkt for byen Jakarta, som har mange regeringsbygninger, såsom ministerkontoret, præsidentkontoret og endda vartegn for Jakarta (nationalmonumentet), der ligger midt på Merdeka-pladsen.
Besøg nationalmonumentet, som ligger midt på Merdeka-pladsen, er et 132 meter højt monument med en bladguldflamme på toppen, der symboliserer nationens uafhængighed. Dette er et af højdepunkterne i Jakarta City. Kælderen af monumentet rummer en udstilling med 48 dioramaer, der skildrer Indonesiens historie fra forhistorisk tid til i dag. (Hver mandag er National Monument lukket. Du kan kun besøge det udvendige område af monumentet).
Beliggende i Jalan Lapangan Banteng Utara, katedralen bygget i gotisk stil går tilbage til 1891. Den har et højt tårn med høje vinduer dekoreret med glasmalerier. Inde i kirken er 3 altre, der tilsammen danner en halvcirkel. Det har også et smukt gammelt alter, der reflekterer lyden som en konkylie.
Istiqlal-moskeen i Jakarta, Indonesien er den største moské i Sydøstasien og den sjettestørste moské i verden i forhold til tilbederkapacitet. Istiqlal, som betyder "uafhængighed" på arabisk. Beliggende i byens centrum, næsten overfor den nationale katedral, er moskeen også tænkt som et symbol på fred og religiøs tolerance. Bemærk: Istiqlal-moskeen er lukket hver fredag.

Gamle By Batavia får dig til at føle at du er i Amsterdam, fordi hele bygningen i dette område har en hollandsk bygningstilstand
Den gamle havn i Jakarta ligger i hovedet af Batavia. Undervejs, den gamle "Drawbridge" fra 17 århundrede. Denne havn er den første, der anvendes af portugisisk og hollandsk, da de ankom til Indonesien.

The guide Fajar was excellent, very knowledgeable on the history of Indonesia, also Indah a new tour guide who provided a lot of good information too. This was a private tour and the driver Bobo was always waiting to pick us up when finished at a site. Each site we stopped at was great and historical, highly recommend this tour.

This half day visit to the highlights in Jakarta was very well organised. The tour agency and the assigned guide were very responsive. The visit started punctually. Catherine is very knowledgeable on the history of Indonesia, and on the specifics related to the sites we visited. We got to see the Istiqal Mosque, the Catholic Cathedral, the National Monument and museum, parta of the old town including a traditional puppet making workshop and the harbor. She is a good communicator and explains things very eloquently. She has a great sense of humour.

My son and I really enjoyed the tour. Pinkan was a great guide, knowledgeable and articulate. She answered all pur questions well and was such a pleasing and patient lady. She wss happily offering to take our pictures as well. We had the car all to ourselves. Our travel also effciently navigated through the streets of Jakarta and we never really to wait long for him.

During business trip from the U.S., first time in Indonesia, I went on a half-day Jakarta tour with the highly knowledgeable guide Thomas. It was a highly enjoyable and informative tour, we covered all major sites including independence square, national museum, main cathedral, world’s 3rd largest mosque, old town and port, even the shadow puppet theater and a historic Batavia Cafe. I learned a tremendous amount from Thomas, the narrative was fun, a new air conditioned car was skillfully driven by driver Andy, and I had time and help buying souvenirs and trying local coffee and amazing pastries (yuzu meringue is my favorite). Thomas took excellent pictures of me that I sent to my kids. This was a memorable experience that made me feel like a local, and got me to appreciate Jakarta and its warm, welcoming people. I highly recommend this tour to travelers interested in experiencing Jakarta’s hidden gems and spending enjoyable four hours without strenuous walking or riding public transport in the heat.

Rizky was extremely knowledgeable in sharing Indonesia history and the highlights in Jakarta. Given the busy traffic and heat, it was delightful to have an air-conditioned vehicle and private driver to go to the various sites. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour!

My colleague and I had a great tour on the day we arrived in Jakarta. Gus, our tour guide, was friendly and easy to talk to. They picked us up right at our hotel.
