Save your money - arrange your own transportation to the entrance and just go around the national park without a guide... It's very civilised and easy to navigate. And as a bonus, you won't feel rushed! We were seriously unimpressed with our guide Carlos, we didn't get much additional information from him, but we did get hurried along, to the point where it was difficult to enjoy the experience. He didn't seem to have any interest in keeping the group together, he would just go as fast as he could with no regards even for the older group members who just weren't able to keep up, nor for the fact that we obviously all wanted to stop and take pictures! Also, we felt cheated because the Devil's Throat balcony was closed (apparently for the past few weeks already) and nobody bothered updating the activity description to make it clear that this would not be included. To top it off, we got "scolded" for not buying our park ticket online in advance, yet nobody told us to! To top it all off, we were "scolded" for not buying our park entry ticket online (which nobody told us to, and would have been great, since it would have given us 15% off).
We had a minor scare when we booked because it took the travel agency a while to see our booking (booked a tour for Sunday on Friday after they got off work) but we contacted the viator team and they helped us reach out to the travel agency. The tour itself was great though. We wanted to do the train ride but turned out that one of the bridges on the way to the Devil’s throat was recently destroyed, so we changed our plans and booked a boat ride instead. The tour was planned to allow people to have a few free hours either for the boat ride or lunch/independent walk by themselves. We saw the upper (superior) circuit in the morning, then had enough time to do the boat ride and after that we walked on the lower circuit
Our contact, Carlos, was great in helping us choose the best trip for us. Our pick up was from our hotel in Foz do Iguaçu (Brazil side), we crossed the border and started our tour in the park. Carina, the guide and Maria (an apprentice guide who joined us on the tour) were both very professional and knowledgeable. I've learned so much from them about the protected species of birds and the trees and plants of the Atlantic Rainforest. Our highlight was la Gran Aventura ( you take a truck ride in the forest then a boat to the falls and the boat runs very close to the falls so you take a proper shower - el bautismo de las cataratas). Not to miss! I totally recommend this to anyone who wants a great experience trip to Iguazu Falls!
