There is an option once you get to the top deck to spend 100rmb to get into the VIP section which has seating and is well worth it you get an ice cream. Some cookies can buy beer…. We were lucky that night it was the 94th year anniversary of the China incident with Japan and there was a drone show as well it… the views are magnificent.

Unfortunately I could have got this all wrong. After looking at some reviews I settle on the Crystal Princess dinner buffet and river cruise. We had already experienced a river cruise the previous day daylight hours without buffet and were quite looking forward to dinner and seeing the river at night. I have to describe this experience as a hop on hop off. The buffet was laid out on a long table on the lower deck with questionable food quality, minimal choice and other guests hands all over the place, soft drinks where self service from a 2 litre bottle into paper cups!!!. We did manage to take a plate and sit down on poor quality tables and chairs. A quick look at each other and like a gust of wind we blew off the ship and up the dock as quick as we could.leaving all behind. Maybe this would be acceptable to most guests but not us.It appears night cruises are popular as crowds on the bund area are very large at night. There are many cruise companies offering the same services so maybe a bit better research was in order.
