Amazing! These guys provided us with a wealth of knowledge about the constellations, galaxies, and space. They gave descriptions and explanations of what we were about to view, and high-powered telescopes that allowed us to see far into the heavens! We even got to see a shooting star! Truly worth it!

Such a great experience and so much knowledge by our guide! We truly enjoyed every minute of this experience.

Very knowledgable guides. Telescopes were in a field easily assessable. Don’t expect to see planets up close like a super telescope but do expect to have fun.

We had a great time. After our initial booking was canceled due to weather, we were able to reschedule for the following night. There were five telescopes set up and we got to see a ton of different things both inside and outside of the galaxy. Wes and Jeff were super knowledgeable and they were able to translate their knowledge into graspable language for us laypersons. I took my 12-year-old daughter and she loved it. I would highly recommend doing this.

Really nice experience. Try to go on a night where the moon phase is dim so you can see more--if you can. The astronomers are very patient with people about learning astrology/answering questions. It's a very wonderful experience. I would recommend tourists being polite with a low tone-of-voice so people can appreciate the nature/stars. This tour group was pretty respectful of that. I went for father's day with my dad, who is an engineer, and he really enjoyed it!

It was a wonderful experience. A very knowledgeable guide with such an amazing view of the night sky. Would definitely go again.

You will be looking through a telescope to see stars, the exact ones you can see yourself, just closer and clearer. We did see a fuzzy white halo and 2 stars where you could faintly see they were yellow and blue. And, it was cloudy and lightening and he wouldn't call it off. Apparently he ends with the moon but it was cloudy and you couldn't see it except right when time ended and I even said "there's the moon now" no response. Don't waste your time or money. Only reason for the second star in the review is the guy was extremely knowledgeable.

Sedona 4 days Grand Canyon 2 days, June 2026 Hello! First, a bit about us. We are 69 and 67 years old and in good health. We enjoy walking/hiking, but I would say we only do easy treks. We live in Chattanooga, TN, a beautiful place to visit, too. We love photography, nice hotels, and good restaurants so read this with that in mind! BTW, we visited on the cusp of the slow season so there weren’t many crowds. We flew into Phoenix airport from Atlanta. No issues with getting around the airport or finding where to pick our bags and our rental car. We rented a Nissan Rogue for our adventure which was a good choice as there were several times we had to turn around, pull off at scenic stops along the road and find parking in almost full lots and the small SUV took it all in stride. The biggest challenge was Interstate 17 in Phoenix. I thought the drivers in my city were crazy, but Phoenix drivers top my list. I did wonder why there were so many billboards touting lawyers ready to handle your accident case. Now I get it! We also saw three accidents between Phoenix and Sedona, two of which were roll overs. Speed limit? 75 mph. As we got closer to Sedona, the landscape got a bit hillier with more trees than cactus but suddenly the red rock mountains seemed to pop up out of nowhere. And all I can say is “Oh, my” and “Wow.” Bell Rock, Cathedral Rock, Thunder Rock, the Coffee Pot and so on are nearly indescribable. Geologically speaking (nerd alert), it’s impressive. Sandstone, lava basalt, sea beds, volcanos. Colors of rusty red, black, white, and beige. It’s all there. And all so big! We stayed at A Sunset Chateau. A lovely place with a great view, if your room is on the second floor. We had 2-bedroom suite with a private balcony. Breakfasts were killer. The grounds were beautiful and the décor very eclectic. There was a pool as well. Please note, although the on-line photos look like there are private balconies for every room, it’s not so. Other guests are able to walk by if you’re sitting on what I would describe as a porch. Also, the photos are a little dated as the 1st room we had booked looked like there was a view, but the bushes had grown up high enough that we really couldn’t see anything. Because it was obstructed, we moved to room with a private balcony. BTW, the beds are fantastic! The next morning, we got up and drove to the Airport Mesa to watch the sunrise (5:15 am). As we were still on EDT, we were awake early. It was lovely. You can hike around the base of the Mesa, if so inclined, or just stand and wait for the sun to make its appearance. Later in the morning, we drove to Red Rock State Park. We hiked the Apache Fire Trail (easy). Please note that water, LOTS of water, is critical. Walking polls are helpful, at least for me. Good hiking shoes, too. (I saw people with flip flops!) And finally, remember Sedona is at 4000 feet. If you’re not used to being up this high, you will feel it no matter how good of shape you’re in. The hike was nice, but the Red Rock Loop drive is the star. Lots to see and photos to take! Plan on taking your time for this drive but watch for traffic. It was Saturday, so it was busy with cars and people walking along the road. And the homes in the area were interesting to see as well. One house required a gondola to reach it on top of a mountain. (It looked like a space house!) Our dinner that day was at Mariposa. It’s a little fancy and you need to have reservations because it books up quick. Everything we had was delicious and the service was outstanding. Easy parking and the view was stunning. (Note: if you want to get into the very popular Elote, book it ASAP as it’s nearly impossible to get into….which we didn’t!) The second day we drove north on 89A toward Oak Creek Canyon. Getting through uptown Sedona on a Sunday was challenging, at best. This is the touristy part of town and people were everywhere. We were headed to West Fork Trail that goes through Oak Creek Canyon and is one of the more popular hikes. It was about 9 a.m. and the parking lot was already full. There is parking along the highway but then you hike in to hike. (Note: although it is part of a National Park, the parking area is privately owned and there is a fee: $15). We talked to the guy at the entrance and he said to come back around 11 a.m. or first thing in the morning (7 a.m.) to get in. So, we drove up 89A, stopped at a few places, and enjoyed ourselves taking photos. A little before 11, we went by again and parking was available. This hike was incredible. It was an easy trail although you do have to cross the creek several times so having walking polls was very helpful for balance across the rocks. The canyon was spectacular and worth every step. (My wet shoes dried quickly.) On our way back to Sedona, traffic was horrible. A Sunday issue apparently, it took us more than an hour to go 10 miles. No accident, just volume. Sunday night I was in the mood for Mexican food so we went to 89Agave. Good reviews, but we were not impressed. First, parking was very difficult (it’s uptown). The restaurant was just OK. The drinks were yummy, but the meal itself was not as good as what I can get at home. Service was good, but I would not recommend this restaurant. Expensive considering the lack of quality and taste. Monday was a rest day, so we planned on taking the Verde Canyon Train ride. It’s in Clarkville, which isn’t too far from Sedona. Having a little time before we had to board, we decided to explore the area. Cottonwood and Jerome, AZ were in the same area. In my opinion, there was nothing to see in either town. It looked like a cute, touristy downtown for Cottonwood, but we didn’t stop. We drove up to Jerome. It’s a deserted, old haunted copper mining town on a hill nearby. Driving ‘up to’ Jerome is not an understatement. Lots of switchbacks and hairpin turns making me grip the door handle and pray…fervently. If you get woozy on that type of road, avoid it! We didn’t stay as parking was limited and most of the shops were closed. The train ride was a great way to get out of the sun and heat and relax. It’s a 4-hour trip out and back. You’ll learn some history about the area, enjoy a glass of champagne, and a light charcuterie tray (crackers, cheese, fruit, brownie) as part of the price. There are seats for four with a table to share, and on the other side of the train car, a table for two. Seats are assigned. Note: the table for 2 side is the better side for viewing. That evening we picked up sandwiches and salad from Whole Foods. On Tuesday we headed out early to Bell Rock, Cathedral Rock and the Secret Slickrock Trail. Hiking to Bell and Cathedral Rock was so interesting. We did not ascend the mountains themselves as that is not our thing. Secret Slickrock Trail is off of Red Rock Loop and ends up on a Mesa. Not too bad. The small part of the trail to the Mesa seemed a little wobbly for me, so I didn’t finish but my husband went on forward. It was very windy but a good view. As we were tired, we decided to drive around the area. We drove up Dry Creek Rd to the Dry Creek Vista. Wow. Just Wow. We didn’t expect to see the long canyon and beautiful mountains. There are several trails in the area. Check out Sedona Trails or All Trails for reviews and information for almost every trail in the area. Know before you go. We did not hike the trails, but walked around the area and really enjoyed the scenery. We then did a little snooping to get closer to Coffee Pot Mountain and Thunder Mountain. Stayed in the car and just gawked at the mountains and the homes in the area. Dinner our last night in Sedona was at Rene at Tlaquepaque, located in the artsy shopping area in Sedona. The meal was delicious. Yes, it’s expensive but what a way to finish off a visit to Sedona. Service was great. The ambience was lovely and the food was outstanding. If you’re in the mood for a real treat, I recommend Rene’s. We left Sedona, sadly, Wednesday morning. Having read that the wait at the Grand Canyon entrance could be hours long, we were prepared to accept that problem. Happily, our wait was just about 30 minutes. We were 2 hours early for check in, so we found a parking spot (hard to come by) and began walking the south rim trail. It meanders around the GC village. Again, one of those moments that both surprises and delights you. The shear enormity of the Grand Canyon is hard to describe. No photos or words can adequately do it. The colors and textures of the rocks, the gray-green color of the bushes and trees, wildflowers, and a really big hole in the ground! The Grand Canyon area is more than 7000 feet up, another warning for getting out of breath. Water, snacks, a hat, and suntan lotion area more than necessary. Good shoes, too. I saw soooo many people with sun burns because they wore tank tops. Bald guys without hats already glowing in the early afternoon sun. Ouch. I know I am an over-preparer, but I also know what a sunburn feels like. It can spoil your day (my husband had basal cell skin cancer so we’re careful about sun exposure). Enough comments about the behavior of others. Sorry. We splurged and stayed at Il Tovar hotel at the canyon. We were in one of the suites that had a deck that overlooked the canyon. The hotel is old and it has quite a history. The suite was comfortable and large. Sitting on the deck was nice, but it was really cool (literally and figuratively) at night. So many stars. Just beautiful. We stayed 2 nights and ate our meals at the hotel restaurant. I had elk which was delightful but breakfasts were excellent! Thursday morning, we drove all the way out to the Desert View Watch Tower, about 22 miles and at 25 mph takes a bit of time. Stunning, again! The tower is neat and has an interesting history as does much of the buildings in the village. As we drove our way back to the village, we stopped at all the viewpoints/trailheads we could. Some were very impressive and some just a little spooky as you gazed over the edge of the canyon. It was warm, but with a lovely breeze. In the afternoon, we took the bus from the village out to Hermit’s Point. The road is closed to regular vehicles so you have to ride the bus (air conditioned!). You can get off at many different scenic viewpoints along the way, and the next bus arrives in about 10 minutes. It’s free and it’s worth the time to see a different perspective of the canyon. That’s it. Then we headed back to Phoenix for a flight home on Saturday. If and when you go to Sedona or the Grand Canyon, I wish you all a great trip!

It was a long windy road to the meeting place but it was so worth it. The sky was full of stars & Wes and his assistant explained so much. All the constellations, the dippers and the zodiac. The history and the future of the planets and stars. A large bright shooting star came across the sky that was bright white with a red tail. So beautiful! Worth every penny. Please tip these guys. They’re so knowledgeable & informative they deserve their worth.
