★★★★★ We had a great time on Bob’s Pirate History Pub Crawl. If you’re expecting a typical bar crawl, this isn’t it. It’s a walking tour through Playas del Coco that visits four different bars, each with its own vibe and personality. It’s actually a great way to get acquainted with town and discover places you might not otherwise visit. The tour follows the history of piracy chronologically, starting with the origins of piracy and moving through the famous names and events that most people associate with the Golden Age of Pirates. Each stop corresponds to a different chapter in the story, which keeps the tour moving and engaging. Bob is extremely knowledgeable, clearly passionate about the subject, and does a great job mixing history with humor. Even those in our group who weren’t “history people” found themselves getting pulled into the stories. There is some walking involved, including a stretch along the beach, and the final stop lined up perfectly with sunset over the water, which was a great way to end the evening. If you’re looking for something different than just another night at a bar, I highly recommend it. We learned a lot, discovered some new spots in Coco, and had a genuinely fun evening.

Such a great tour! Our guide, Bob, was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging. I came in knowing nothing about pirates and left feeling like I'd had a proper crash course in the history. The bars were a fantastic selection with real variety too, so the afternoon never felt repetitive. It's a great blend of learning something and just having fun + the local history gave me nice context for the rest of my time in Playas del Coco. Highly recommend. Thanks, Bob!
