Our private tour of Katakolon was one of the highlights of our trip! Our guide was exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and flexible throughout the day. They made sure the itinerary matched our interests and were happy to adjust the schedule so we could spend more time at the places we enjoyed most. In addition to the well-known attractions, our guide took us to several hidden gems that we never would have discovered along with charming local spots, and learned fascinating stories about the area’s history and culture that made the experience feel much more personal. The relaxed pace and personalized attention made the tour enjoyable from start to finish. It truly felt like we were exploring Katakolon with a knowledgeable local friend rather than following a standard tour. If you’re looking for a customized, stress-free experience with an outstanding guide, this private tour is an excellent choice. Highly recommended!
Beware. I naively thought I was booking a tour with a van based on the picture. It was for four adults, and the tour company knows how many people are going as you have to supply the names and information of all the people in your group. But, since I did not request a van our group of four traveled in the July heat in a sedan with three of us squished in the back. Our driver called his boss and gave me his phone so I could speak to the gentlemen. He explained that the vans were for families of five or more, though if I had requested one he would have sent one. I can only take his word for that. Of course the day of they were all booked out and had no van to send instead of the sedan, which I could believe as it is the busy season. The guide was just the intermediary who showed up to take us around when the boss called him to say he had four people for a tour. The guide was personable and took us to Olympia, to Klio's Honey Farm, to Olive Oil tasting and to a winery for wine tasting. We enjoyed all the activities, and the guides enthusiasm and knowlede for the area, we just felt a little duped with a bait and switch and it was partly my fault, which could make one feel like they've let their group down. Request a van, and get it in writing.
We had a great day touring a secluded monastery for Nuns and then Olympia where we toured the ancient Olympic site and the museum. At the end we even received a bottle of his homemade olive oil. Theodoros was very knowledgeable of Greek history and government,
My family and I had a wonderful tour of Olympia Archeological Site, Klio’s honey farm and the Kremastis Monastery with Mr. Mamousis. He provided great insight into the history of the area, shared stories about his own life, and was a delightful conversationist. He did not accompany us inside the Olympia Archeological Site as he’s not licensed as an official guide, but gave us an informational booklet to take with us and the site itself had plenty of informational signs. We appreciated the flexibility of being able to decide how much time we wanted to spend in Olympia/museum (recommend 2 hours minimum) before going to the honey farm and the monastery. The honey farm was interesting and a nice cool stop on a hot day. The monastery was small but had great views.
The private tour was absolutely the way to go. Our driver was so friendly and helpful and accommodating to our needs. The owner is the one that met us outside the ruins to tell us what we would see on the inside. They don't go in with you so be sure to get the guidebook at the entrance so you know more about each spot while you are in there. Great value.
Gus was amazing! He was so fun and friendly and explained a lot of history of Olympia to us ! We went to an olive oil farm and got a great tour , followed by a winery tour and tasting and then to the Olympia monument site and then to the beach! He drove very safely and never made us feel rushed. He took time to ask us about our holiday and our country of Canada . We became good friends! This is a great tour don’t miss it! It’s a beautiful country with such wonderful People. Communication was easy with him both during and prior to the excursion.. he picked us up flight from the cruise port .
Lot of fun and worth it! Fotis, our guide, was excellent and met us right outside the boat. Easiest way to communicate to either text or call is with WhatsApp and you'll use it often. Guides aren't allowed into the sites so they will drop you off and you'll see the site then text/call when done. Fotis gave us plenty of time to see everything and we were done early a few times to move to next spot. The tour company will email you a description of the itinerary as well as the entrance fees. Crowds were there of course but didn't impact our plans. Highlight was the honey farm and Olympia (leave plenty of time because it's a large area). Fotis then took us to eat lunch at a great spot overlooking the coast and food was excellent. A great day and highly recommend! It's nice to have a private tour for flexibility, insider knowledge/recommendations and getting to know the area.
We had a wonderful day! We learned so much about the area. Our visit to the Monastery and ruins was very interesting. The highlight of our trip was our visit to the Olive Oil Farm where we had a tour and then a lunch, which was amazing! Definitely a must in Olympia. Our guide, Theodoros, was so knowledgeable and kind. He made sure we had time to see everything and got us back to our cruise ship exactly when we wanted to be there. It was a memorable day!

We were met by Jon who took us to the Olympic site. Then we were greeted by the owner of the company who kindly showed us and explained what we were looking at. After that we went to a honey farm. It was interesting. But beware they charge when you leave. We went to a quaint Greek restaurant that was good. I liked the fact that our driver took us wherever we wanted to go.
