På den vestlige bred af Chao Phraya-floden ligger en del af byen kaldet Thonburi. Beliggende på højre side af floden er der kommet fremskridt her med ringe indflydelse. Få en lille følelse af livet i Bangkok i begyndelsen af det 20. århundrede, da det også blev kaldt "Østens Venedig". Træhuse, bygget på stylter til at stå gennem højvandet i den sene regntid; steder, kun tilgængelige med båd; børn, der bruger floden som en stor legeplads - livet i Thonburi har ikke ændret sig meget siden dets begyndelse.

We had a very enjoyable and informative morning tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and we learned lots about this amazing city and country’s history. We started with an exhilarating long tail boat ride across the Chao Praya and its waterways. We stopped to feed the catfish, which was amazing. Our guide provided us with an interesting commentary on the sights that we saw. I would thoroughly recommend.
