You’ll have about 2 hours at Chichen Itza - an hour with the guide, an hour on your own. Enough to visit the “main” temples - but not enough if you want to visit the full site. More than enough for us - it was HOT! You’ll also be in a van for about 2-2.5 hours each way since they pick up folks at other resorts. They do make bathroom stops. Lunch is a turkey and ham sandwich that’s not all that good; bring your own food if you don’t want that. Make sure to also check ticket prices; we were asked to pay $50 for our tickets but others on our tour were only asked to pay $35 since they booked through a different agency (through their hotel). Cancun Adventures was the company that actually ran the tour. Overall, recommend this if you just want to see Chichen Itza!

Great “Express” Tour
This was a great tour, especially if you’re short on time and just want to see the Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza. Many of the other tours take much longer because they include side trips to a Cenote and etc. But this fit my schedule perfectly. Great, knowledgeable tour guide, bottled water, sodas and snacks as well as sandwiches for lunch provided.

My experience to Chichén Itza
The experience on this trip was amazing our tour guide was Ricardo and driver, Carlos. We have heard a lot about visiting Chichén Itza. It’s one of the 7 wonders of the world. I definitely don’t think you should do it on your own, and you definitely need to be with the right tour guide. Ricardo is very friendly, knowledgeable, and you can tell he is very passionate about what he does. He went over the history of the Mayas and the ruins and explained it a way that felt like you were there. His English is great also. By the end of the trip it felt bittersweet because it felt like we really made a connection and now we had to go. I would 110% recommend booking with Cancun Adventures and requesting for Ricardo and Carlos as your guides.

Discovery of the Maya culture
We booked 2 excursions: Tulum + Cenote which was absolutely Magnificent in the company of our young Guide who speaks French very well and is of Venezuelan nationality (Rodrigo, but not sure about his first name anymore!!) with a great sense of humor. And the 2nd excursion with Myriam to Chichen Itza. Thanks to our 2 guides for the fascinating explanations about the Maya culture.

Chichen Itza with some bumps
Let me start off saying that this excursion got off to a bumpy start. We we booked we were told that the pick up time was 8am. The day of our excursion we received a call at 7am asking where we were. When we stated that the pickup time was 8am the said they had sent an email the night before and that the pickup was at 6:55am. I dont look at email while on vacation so this was a surprise. We were 15 minute walk to the closest pickup point. They would not wait but did reschedule us for the next day. The next day we met them for pick up and were taken to a central meeting spot to join the rest of the group. This is small group excursion and the size limit was 18 people. There were 17 of us in the van including the guide and driver and it was PACKED tight. There may have been 18 seats on the van but the seats were designed for 15 year olds not 50 somethings. My suggestion to the tour operator is to lower the group site to 14 or get bigger vans. Now for the tour. Gustavo our guide was excellent. He clearly knew the history of the local Mayans and Aztec tribes. He switched from English to Spanish very well and kept the tour going at a good pace. The site is incredible but you need to get there early before the crowds and the heat. Both of which are no joke. In summary this is a good tour. With a few tweaks it could be a great tour for the money.
