My wife and I stayed in Rethymno recently and booked the Chania and Lake Kournas tour. 30 Euro each. The advisor in the shop was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The coach picked up and dropped off on time, no issues. The guide on the coach took time to explain about the area and history during the journey. Highly recommend Check In Crete Travel Services, and this tour.

Aside from the 15-minute delay in pickup, there were no other issues. We were also the second-to-last guests of a double-decker. We were very well taken care of, and our guide told us a lot about Crete, Chania, and Lake Kournas. Everything went smoothly, and we had a very nice experience. Three hours in Chania were sufficient to see everything; we even received a map with attractions. Lake Kournas was also very beautiful; one could have even stayed an hour longer.

Booking was easy. Julie is super friendly and took time to understand what we would enjoy and would work for us. The tour was great Hania and lake kournas beautiful and well worth a visit. Just wish we could go back. What would improve the trip would be a better map of hania with a key. It's a bit confusing the road named are spelt differently yo those on the map

Amazing service and so well organized. Everything is like clockwork, we went on four excursions with them, including Santorini and it was so well planned. Julie is especially kind and helpful although everyone else is great, too.

Beautiful city. We were there in May and June 2025. There were already a lot of people so it must be difficult in the summer. However great to have a drink on the harbor.

Organization and perfect services Anny who accompanied us was at the top with a very pleasant character, competent, which communicates his good mood all day when in Manolis we appreciated his driving skills, his kindness and his good mood
We loved the tours offered our Guide Anny was at the top and the driver Manolis drove very carefully which reassured us a lot
The coach was very comfortable. It was pleasant being picked up just a short walk from our hotel. It was a relief not to have to try and work out how to get to Chania ourselves by public transport. Somehow the buses in Rethymno town don’t seem very frequent and they don’t show the bus stops on board. This really was an easy way of getting to Chania. We enjoyed our time there, but would really have preferred more time in Chania. The guide gave some explanations during the drive, but we had trouble understanding her (even though we are British) when she was speaking English. She was clearly French speaking and has a very strong accent when speaking English. I thought she was talking about goats — turned out she was talking about gorge. On the way to Chania she talked without a microphone, which made it even harder to hear/understand her. Kournas was nice, but not that spectacular. The time there (1 1/2) is really only enough for a meal or for a bit of a swim, not for both. I think it would have been better to have had more time in Chania. Since there were 2 guides, I wonder if it would be an idea to split the group in two, do a short guided walk with each group and then let people have free time and then go back to Rethymno.
Excellent trip with the only downside being the timing. Chania was a beautiful place but I had heard from today's tour guide and another I went on about a traditional lamb dish to try when we get to the lake (Antichiristo is the pronunciation but not the spelling) this was indeed excellent. One of the best things I tasted in Crete but the 90 minutes is not enough time to enjoy the food and the lake properly. It's one or the other wich is a shame because the food was good but the lake is stunning and I'd have loved to take a boat out too. Tour guide Kevin and bus driver Manoles.
