Beskrivelse

Our guide, Diarmid Monaghan, was superb, full of insightful information and anecdotes
Thanks for the lovely review. Glad you enjoyed the tour
The tour was comfortable, intimate and eye opening. Diarmaid was a first-hand witness and resident of the neighbourhoods we visited and intimately informed. His honest, balanced portrayal of the trouble was exactly what I’d hoped for when booking the tour.
Thanks for the kind review. Was nice meeting you both.
Diarmaid was our guide for the tour. Great guy, personable and a wealth of knowledge. Really educational and would highly recommend. We leave being far more educated on the history and impact. Thank you.
Thanks for the lovely review. Glad you enjoyed the tour
Diarmaid made this tour outstanding. Having grown up in the area, he brought real, firsthand insight you won't get from a script. He covered the background, key sites, persons and murals tied to the Troubles with real depth. He balanced views from both Protestants and Catholics fairly, Educational, personal, and genuinely eye-opening. Highly recommend by Miksel & Stefsn
Thanks for the lovely review, was nice meeting you guys and glad you enjoyed the tour.
Another 5* review for Diarmaid. What a great tour we had. Such an eye- opener for us with first hand knowledge from someone who lived through the Troubles. Diarmaid's personal experiences are what made the tour so special. We didn't realise that Belfast is still physically separated by a wall and gates even now. Quite shocking to see. Diarmaid is a nice, friendly chap and made us feel comfortable and at ease from the start. Highly recommend this tour, well worth the money. Ask for Diarmaid!
Thanks for the great review Sandra, glad you enjoyed the tour.
This tour was one of the most meaningful travel experiences we've ever had. Searching for the right words ... profound, significant, transformative... we landed on poignant: that tender, aching feeling when something deeply moves you and stays with you. Our guide was Caolain, who was extraordinary. He immediately put us at ease by inviting us to ask any question at all. He then shared something far more valuable: his own life. Growing up during the Troubles, he told us specific stories from his childhood, showed us photographs of himself as a boy interacting with heavily armed guards, and recounted being roused from his bed in the middle of the night while soldiers searched his home. What made this truly special was that Caolain presented both sides of the story. This commitment seems to run deep in Belfast's Past Tours itself. The company was founded by taxi drivers, Catholic and Protestant, who became friends over years working together in the City Centre. As they put it on their website: "It is still a controversial subject, so we are very respectful of each other's beliefs. Yes, we still have our jokes, but nothing intimidating or disrespectful." That ethos comes through in their tours, as guides take visitors into both Catholic and Protestant communities with genuine balance. Caolain's passion for completeness was evident. At the tour's end, he provided us with a curated list of reputable, non-partisan sources of podcasts, documentaries, and names to explore further. We joked about our "homework," but we are genuinely grateful. He gave us not just a tour, but an invitation to keep learning. What moved us most was watching his perspective unfold: from a boy experiencing the conflict firsthand, to a man who had come to understand that "there was bad and good on both sides," to a father of four navigating what it means to raise the next generation with that hard-won wisdom. Highly recommend this tour and Caolain without reservation.
Thanks for the lovely review it means so much. Liked that you put some thought into writing it. Thanks again and glad you enjoyed the tour.
We had an amazing tour Diarmaid was great so knowledgeable as he was a local man who grew up and still lives at the heart of the tour. This made a huge difference as he spoke not only from a history perspective but from a personal one too, all the while staying neutral. Nothing was too much trouble and we didn’t feel rushed in fact we ran over time which wasn’t an issue for either party. Value for money is extremely good worth every penny and more!! Thank you Diarmaid highly recommend your tour!!
Thanks for the lovely review. Glad you enjoyed the tour. And grateful for the follow on the socials 😎
I went on this tour with a friend. I'm from out of town, and my friend is from the Belfast area, and we both really enjoyed the tour. The guide was knowledgable and shared both historical information/facts and some of his own family's lived experiences. Highly recommend!
Thanks for the lovely review. Glad you enjoyed the tour.
I had an exceptional experience, and a big part of what made it so memorable was my host, Diarmaid. From the very beginning, he was approachable, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable. His delivery was objective and informative, allowing us to gain a genuine understanding of the local history, culture, and attractions without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. What really stood out was Diarmaid's passion for the local area. His enthusiasm was infectious, and it was clear that he genuinely enjoys sharing his knowledge and helping visitors appreciate everything the region has to offer. His insights added so much value to my experience and gave us a deeper appreciation about the troubles. I would recommend this experience to anyone looking for an authentic, informative, and enjoyable stay. Thank you, Diarmaid, for making my trip.
Thanks for the lovely review. Really glad you enjoyed your tour.
Well what a great experience & it was all due to our guide Dermot( pronounced Jermot). Thought I had a good knowledge of what had occurred but I was so far from the mark. If you come to Belfast please book Jermot in advance because he will be booked out.
Thanks for the lovely review. Glad you enjoyed your tour.
