Great morning with an excellent guide – Charith Our driver and guide for the day was Charith. He picked us up promptly at the hotel. When we reached the Horton Plains, we initially had some bad luck with the weather, but as the morning progressed, it cleared up and the conditions became excellent. We were traveling as a family (ages 70, 71, 77, and 50), and Charith was always attentive to our needs. He was exceptionally friendly, patient, and helpful. Thanks to his calm demeanor and motivating support, we were able to successfully complete the entire hike. He repeatedly emphasized that we should take the time we needed. At no point did we feel pressured or rushed. Charith pointed out numerous animals and plants and shared his knowledge about the region with great enthusiasm. He loves what he does, and you can tell. Additionally, he took us along a lesser-known path to a beautiful viewpoint. Overall, Charith's caring and relaxed manner significantly contributed to making this trip an unforgettable experience for us. We can wholeheartedly recommend him and would do this trip exactly the same way again.
Our guide Charitha was excellent: friendly, knowledgeable and with a great eye for spotting camouflaged birds and animals. We had a great time and would definitely do the trip again.
You leave Nuwara Eliya at 5am to get to the gate for 6am. There is frost and mist so do wear layers as it is a bit chilly until the sun comes up. Beautiful hike though, we spotted deer, monkeys and a variety of birds on our hike. My driver guide, Ranga, was very informative of the history of the area, the terrain and wildlife - always keeping an ear out for any animal calls and watching for tracks.
We have been traveling with Nuwaraelyia Tours Harshana. Very pleasant tour. He had a lot of information about the park for us and could show us many animals. He planned the tour so that we were almost alone. It was fantastic.
We had an absolutely amazing 9 km guided hike at Horton Plains and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The scenery was breathtaking, and what truly made the hike special was our incredibly knowledgeable guide Prabhoda. He took the time to stop along the way to point out wildlife, explain the unique flora and fauna, and share fascinating insights about the park’s ecosystem. The hike was well paced, engaging, and felt both adventurous and educational. It was clear how passionate and experienced our guide was, which made the entire journey even more enjoyable. This was a truly memorable experience and a highlight of our trip. Thank you for such a fantastic and well-organized hike!
The trek was very unique as it had a very clear, safe and walkable trail. The beauty on both sides was very picturesque. Highly recommend going as early as 6am when the park opens for visitors.
Great place. It's a walking trail and very long. They have a few sites on the way. It is a very long trail, so I wouldn't recommend going with very young kids. The trail also went up into the clouds and can also stay low. It was an amazing experience with my 7 and 10 year old boys.Bring lots of water as sometimes it can get hot depending on which day you go.
The Natural Park is incredibly beautiful. I was really lucky since the weather was sunny with no misth. Walking in the park with fresh and sunny air, in the silence of nature was wonderful. It wouldn't have been the same if Charith, my super nice and knowledgeable guide, hadn't been there. We spotted a lot of animals but no leopard. However the best thing to me is the views on the valley from the high peaks.
Awesome morning with Harshana. Picked us up from our hotel at 5am to make sure we were first to the park and had the chance to maybe spot a leopard. Whilst the leopards were still illusive it was still a great decision as we got to see the best views ever before the clouds rolled back in. Harshana was such a lovely person, his english was excellent, driving awesome (especially considering you couldn’t see a thing on the way there), picked out all the best spots to take photos . Thank you Harshana you were amazing 🤩
Our tour guide told us everything about the local flora and fauna. He even imitated a monkey in order to provoke a response; which it did.
