Sandy was awesome. Super knowledgeable and friendly
Welcoming guests into our city is a responsibility we genuinely value. Thank you for placing your trust in Secret Food Tours and until next time!
Wonderful tour that I can only very highly recommend. Siu Wai is an outstanding guide: extremely knowledgeable not only about the food, but also on culture and history of Hong Kong.
Thank you for joining us! Reading your comments was a welcome reminder that even a few hours together can leave a lasting impression. We hope to welcome you back to Secret Food Tours.
(July 2026) We had a fantastic food tour with Sandy this morning! I was initially apprehensive when learning that we would be "only" going to 4 places to eat, but let me tell you - the food was excellent and filling! Our guide, Sandy, met us right on time at the Tin Hau MTR station; we stayed within the Tin Hau residential district and learned not only about HK food culture, but history, useful Cantonese phrases, and additional restaurants to check out when we had time. My travel companion and I thought the price/admission fee was an excellent value for the food and tour. We lucked out and were the only ones on our tour; I think these tours can be as large as 10 or 12 people. Sandy was an excellent guide! She spoke well and provided nuanced details about HK food culture; this was not a dine-and-go-to-the-next-restaurant experience. When it made sense, we were able to sit down and have a great conversation about how each restaurant prepared its food. We did not feel we were rushed. One of the last stops was Tin Hau Temple, which is the namesake for the district. We learned about this 200-year old temple's history and how it continues to shape the community. Would love to have Sandy as a guide for a future food tour!
Thank you for such a detailed and thoughtful review! It's wonderful to hear Sandy brought so much depth to your morning, from local phrases to the history behind Tin Hau Temple, all while keeping the pace relaxed and unhurried. We'll be sure to pass along your kind words, and we hope Secret Food Tours gets to welcome you back to Hong Kong soon.
The food selection was pretty good, as an introduction to Hong Kong and Cantonese cuisine it will do the job. However, our guide was not the greatest and the group was not really engaged. The guide didn’t allow us to really talk and have an actual conversation with each other or about the food. It felt like we were bombarded with Wikipedia answers with no room to breath and experience the moment. If you are at all familiar with Asian culture and food, this tour isn’t for you.
Thank you for joining our Hong Kong Tin Hau Hidden Gems Food Tour and for sharing your feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed the food selection and found it to be a good introduction to Hong Kong and Cantonese cuisine. We also appreciate your thoughts on the guiding style. Every guest has a different idea of what makes a memorable food tour. Some enjoy a deeper focus on the stories and history behind each stop, while others prefer a more conversational experience with the group. Our tours are thoughtfully curated to showcase the city’s flavors, local neighborhoods, and the stories behind them, with our guides bringing their own personality and enthusiasm to each experience. While this tour wasn’t the right fit for your preferences, many guests, including those familiar with Asian cuisine, have enjoyed discovering local favorites they might not have found on their own. We hope you’ll consider joining us again on another Secret Food Tour. We’d love the chance to share a different side of the local food scene with you.
We had a great time with our guide Sui Wai, she took us to some great places to try Hong Kong delights - warning to all - do not have a big breakfast before booking this trip! The food offerings were very generous and we were quite full after our tour. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to sample Hong Kong food with an informative guide who can share customs and history with you. Was well paced with our last stop for some Dim Sum which was at a relaxed and enjoyable pace. We paid for additional drinks that were not included.
We truly appreciate having had you on the tour. Reading your review was every bit as enjoyable as hosting you. We hope you'll join Secret Food Tours again soon!
We enjoyed the stops we had on the tour! The food was delicious and Sheila was a great guide. She provided information about the types of food and how they play a part in the food culture of Hong Kong.
Thank you for your feedback! We're glad you enjoyed the tour, the food, and Sheila's guidance. We'll be sure to share your kind words with her. We hope to see you again on another tour!

We had a lovely time touring and tasting with Siu Wai on Hong Kong Island. From some of the best dim sum to delicious milk tea — a true Hong Kong tradition — every stop was memorable!
We loved reading this. Knowing the experience gave you a memorable way to enjoy your time in the city means a great deal to us. We’d be delighted to host you again with Secret Food Tours!
It was a great tour and tourguide Sandy really took us to nice restaurants and explained a lot about the food and foodculture of Hong Kong. I highly recommend this tour and tourguide Sandy.
Thank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely review! It means a lot to know your time with us felt memorable and added something special to your day. We’d be delighted to welcome you back with Secret Food Tours anytime.
What a wonderful tour! Sandy was an absolute fantastic tour guide! The restaurants she took us to were the favorite places that the locals go to. We ate delicious treats from noodles to dim sum to tea made by a tea master. The small group tour was just right for our group of 4 and another group of 2. She also took us to a wet market, explaining what we saw and how things are done here in Hong Kong. Additionally, she also took us to one of the very old temples, explaining the traditions here. We learned about the living situations and the cost of living for the average citizen in Hong Kong. The only negative was that during the tour we had to pay an extra $100 USD for the drink package that really didn’t cover anything but a can of beer and a glass of rice wine- neither of which did we have time to drink.
We’re grateful you shared your experience with us! It’s great to know the day felt relaxed, enjoyable, and full of good moments along the way. Secret Food Tours would love to welcome you back.
