We had a super fun day trip. The guide was on time, the bus was comfortable, nice accompaniment of the group by the guide and the visit to the Hobbiton was impressively beautiful, while we are not a die-hard fan of Lord of the Rings. Highly recommended and special word of thanks to Liam, our guide, who provided the whole group, also with other tips for our trip in New Zealand.

This Cheeky Kiwi Travel Hobbiton movie set tour was fabulous. Our driver and guide, Grant, picked us up from various hotel locations and we were on our way for the over two hour drive to Hobbiton. On the way, Grant was very informative about Auckland, tourist attractions there and background information about Hobbiton. We arrived at 12:20pm with plenty of time to have lunch, coffee and use the amenities before we joined the Hobbiton green bus tour with our guide Alex. After a short drive we were guided through the Shire on a 2 1/2 hour walking tour and Alex enthralled us with stories of the area and filming. We got to go inside one of the ‘houses’ which was truly magical and ended up at the Green Dragon tavern for a drink…we had a choice of beer, cider or non alcoholic ginger beer and tea/ coffee etc. The whole experience was truly magical and well worth doing even though the weather was a bit wet. We got back on the bus with Grant for the drive back to Auckland and, again, he gave us information about possible activities on offer during our time here. I can highly recommend this tour and would like to extend my thank to Grant and Alex for making this an unforgettable experience.
This is a great tour easy pick from Auckland the Hobbiton village is so well done it was beautiful walking around with the guide who is full of knowledge. It was amazing being able to go inside one of the homes fully furnished.

This tour is simply amazing whether you are a Lord of the Rings fan or not. I mainly booked this for my husband who is a big fan, but I enjoyed it as much as he did. The scenery is just spectacular! I had no idea the area was so large. The attention to detail was phenomenal, and it was such fun touring a hobbit house. Our tour guide, Matt, told us many interesting facts along the way and even stopped on the way back to treat us to ice cream (hint: try the Hokey-Pokey ice cream; you won't be sorry). He was so nice and a great driver. The company was also great to communicate with and responded quickly to a couple questions I had. I highly recommend this Hobbiton tour with Auckland Scenic Tours!

About 20 acres set deep in the 1200 acre Alexander Family Farm. isn't the location so pristine, so immaculately manicured and with the miniturization in the full themed Hobbit hole on Bagshot Row, literally a simply magical and enchanting experience. It is a stand alone tour as your experienced. You don't have to be the big fan, like you mention of your husband, to enjoy our tour. It is a stand alone experience. And yes, another iconic experience......tasting our yummy and iconic Hokey Pokey ice-cream, the creamiest ice cream on the planet. We appreciate your lovely comments about one of our tour guides. Our guide Mike was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and passionate about New Zealand and the Hobbiton history. My wife and I hadn’t seen the movies, but now want to. Our son, who loves Tolkien and the stories, was in heaven. A must stop when visiting Auckland!

Great tour. Only drawback was vehicle taken to the tour site was not very comfortable over the 2 hour drive each way. Driver was great and provided information on the scenery.
Thank you for sharing your comments and particularly that you had a "Great Tour." We are disappointed that the comfort level of our air-conditioned Mercedes Benz didn't meet your expectation. All our 20 tours are small intimate group tours. We have a fleet of 12, 15 and 17 seater Mercedes Benz with leather and sculptured fabric seating which are at the absolute premium for passenger vehicles. We do not operate any of the 50-60-70 seater coaches. We want all our tours to be small and personal which enables our touring teams to truly connect with each and every one of our guests so that they have a very special experience. You cannot avoid the travel as the 2 attractions are a good 2 hours south of Auckland; literally in the middle of no where; in Middle Earth. But we mitigate the travel by the specially and exclusively designed route that we travel, which showcases the stunning and ever changing scenery of the region. It was a privilege hosting you.
