Champ was a terrific guide and was very knowledgeable! He also provided water at the beginning of our tour for all those who would enjoy a beverage as a much appreciated extra! Thank you for a wonderful experience !
As a history buff myself, I greatly appreciated Champ’s knowledge and insights regarding the history of Savannah! He walked us from the settling of the city up to the urban renewal of the 60’s and 70’s. As a gardener, I loved his pointing out the local flora and fauna of the area and why it was planted. You will not be disappointed with this Navy vet who loves this city! He drew us in and my wife and I are grateful for him sharing what he has spent years researching! Thank you Champ!
Nice experience- please tell tour guide Champ to speak more clearly and slowly- we couldn't understand half of what he said.
Good tour! It was funny, informative, and engaging overall. One suggestion: when discussing slavery or civil rights, try to avoid repeatedly looking at the only African American person(s) on the tour. It created an awkward moment and felt like an assumption. Not every Black person is a descendant of enslaved people, and it's best not to single anyone out during those parts of the tour.
This was an excellent tour. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the history and background of the city. We would highly recommend this tour for anyone that’s interested in the history of Savannah.
The tour guide was very knowledgeable and it was a good way to see the downtown areas without being clueless as to the significance of different landmarks. It was also a good way to get some steps in and the guide was able to keep us in the shade for the majority of the walk.
Pierce gave an indepth and engaging history of Savannah and Georgia. Great experience if you want to learn the history and see the city!
Pierce was an exceptional docent! He was a native Savannahian and he knew the history of the town and the squares very well! Easy to listen to, found us all shade when he stopped to elaborate and very good with answering questions. Would recommend a Viator tour any day! And if you get Pierce you are extra lucky!
Our guide was great! Although it was a hot day in Savannah, the quick stop at the church was a great escape from the heat. She gave us plenty of time to take pictures and look around. Cost was fair for all the walking and learning. Even gave us some ideas for lunch. We would do it again...maybe not in summer.
