I wanted to do something other than beach activities, and this tour was a good choice. Higüey felt much more local and authentic than the tourist areas. The guide explained the history of the city and gave us enough time to look around. It was a relaxed and interesting half-day trip.
A very nice half-day tour with a good balance of sightseeing and cultural learning. The visit to local spots and the city center was interesting, and everything was handled professionally. Perfect for anyone who wants to see more than just the beaches.
This tour was a great way to explore the local culture and city life of Higuey. The guide was knowledgeable and shared interesting information about the history and daily life in the Dominican Republic. The trip was comfortable and well organized, making it a smooth and enjoyable experience.
First off, we want want to say that we really appreciated that they were able to change our itinerary since half of us were allergic to horses! So, they brought us to a cave/cenote instead. Overall , I think the tour was ok. It was interesting experiencing their culture and seeing parts of the city. Our group's favourite would be the cigar & cacao tasting. The tour would have been better if the last stop was Macao beach. Unfortunately, the beach was the first stop before 9am, which we couldn't enjoy, since we didn't want to sit in a van in our wet clothes for the whole tour. As a suggestion, we would've liked to enjoy the cenote and Macao beach as the last stops of our tour. Also, there was a photographer that joined us on the whole trip right before Macao beach. We felt uncomfortable and pressured to buy the photos for our group at the end of our tour. He wasn't very happy that we didn't want to pay hundreds in USD. USD is not our main currency, so that was very expensive and the photos didn't look very good. We didn't want any trouble, so we only agreed to pay a little amount for his time. The guide was friendly, but there wasn't much of any explanations as to what we were doing. I think the tour could be good, but needs adjustments. We want to be able to enjoy our tour without being hassled to pay for extras that we didn't ask for.
